For your consideration. Antique brass ship's lantern- tag says"Not Under Command" From the research I did. This was used in conjunction with another one to signal to other ship captains that the ship was not moving and not under active command of anyone. This has a great patina! This has what appears to be the original light socket and looks to be in good condition- but I'm no expert. There was once another tag welded to the top of this lantern. But probably removed when the current tag was placed. The glass lense is not cracked and the red insert looks good as well. There are expected minor dings and other blemishes that come with age and use on the ocean. This lantern weighs in at almost 20 pounds before packing. So will cost a little more to ship. Stands 23 1/2" tall to top of hanger. About 14" wide head on. Top is bent in. I have seen others with the same thing on them and believe it was purposely bent like that to fit on the ships they were used on since its not only this one I've seen like that. Don't know much about item but it may have been customized. Has not been tested but definately could be made to work with some retro fitting by someone who knows what they are doing. This 8 inch tall lamp has a 3 1/2 inch tall RED glass bezile lense, There are only a couple of specs on the glass that appears to be in very good condition NO CRACKS. The base is 6 inches across and the light is very heavy duty. Not sure if it is military as it appears to be somewhat grey in coloring. There is a number 9-S 4473-L in raised lettering on top. There is a 64 inch heavy duty cord with some type of plug in socket end see photo 5. Not sure if from a ship, dock or pier. Not sure if it works or what type of power supply it used. Fresh from an estate nautical collection is a Blue and Red Glass Silver Metal Vintage Ship Lantern. Burner marked BB&C Co. This navigation lamp is in good condition for its age. No chips or cracks on lens, some dents and scratches as to be expected on a lamp this old, bottom metal strip missing on left side, This vintage ship lantern Height is about 11" to top of handle. 8" without handle, 5" across base. Wonderful old boat. Ship marine starboard lamp lantern. I couldn't find any makers mark, but I'm sure for the experienced marine enthusiast you'll know, or at least know where you can find out. Possibly Perko? This piece measures 20 3/4" in height to the top of the brass ring and when turned over the base has a maximum measurement of 13 1/2" diameter. Very dirty. Unsure if it works.
