It is quite dirty but I think it will clean up especially the glass. It has a metal tag that says Port Run. It has a red glass globe that has one chip approximately 3/4" It has a couple of the long bolts broken that holds the whole unit together. So I was able to disassemble it to take pictures. I have the starboard light on another auction so please look at my other listings. Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and ... morethe top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging loop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. Close inspection shows some spalling of glass on the Fresnel ribs near the upper mounting screws. Chrome has a nice shine; however, close inspection shows it is scratched and thin in places. This light housing was meant to be mounted directly to the hull so there is no base-plate. The keyed hole to receive the light socket is found on the bottom of one side. No light socket included. This would have been one of a set. One red, one green for the starboard and one deck mounted light for the clear light. Base is 5 1/2" x 10 1/8".

Lantern has been electrified and has a cord with a switch on it, but the end has been cut off, so it will need to be rewired with a plug. It weighs a little over 12 pounds. I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. It's also very LARGE. It measures about 13 1/2" tall, 13 3/4" wide and is approximately 9 1/2" deep from each corner to the back. It was a originally a kerosene or oil ship's lantern. It's an amazing light! It's in excellent working condition, it's been newly re-wired& has an antique switch in the front(converted to electric) The switch is turned to right each time you want to turn it off or no. It has a removable red port glass(see photos of it turned on, with and without the red glass) The clear glass has a small 1/2" chip in one of the ... moreribbed sections; it's a very heavy thick glass so this does not compromise anything. Near the top of the lamp there's an emblem that has the numbers"3883" There is also some etching on both the clear and red glass. I wonder if this belonged to a military ship. As most items on those ships were marked with serial#s etc. The writing on each glass piece says"DHJE 3883, No. 654, E.31.5.61" It's not very noticable and you can't see it unless you really look; it's not seen when the light is on. Condition wise.it's vintage! There are a few dings& dents. Some areas of wear etc.but considering it was a ship light, it's going to have a weathered old look, which I personally prefer. Vintage Starboard Ship Kerosene Lantern Light Lamp Port Blue Glass Brass 21" BIG
Vintage ship's starboard lantern in a unique tri-plex shape. One of the largest I've seen at 21" from base to finial. 11" x 11" square with the typical curved front. Thick blue glass(not an interchangeable light filter) with horizontal grooves. Brass trim and a brass finial with hanging ring. Great"keyhole" vent holes throughout. Suffers from an untidy paint job and is in need of some updating. Missing original kerosene lamp and has been converted with a light socket. Needs new electrical cord. Brass has a lovely patina and there is still some vintage kerosene soot on the inside of this lamp. There is a small spot on the bottom by a switch of some sort that corrosion has eaten through the metal. But it's repairable and not endemic to the rest of the lantern. Pair Huge Brass Antique/Vtg Port/Starboard Navigation Lanterns-DURKEE-18" Tall Up for your consideration is a pair of huge brass antique or vintage ships port& starboard navigation lanterns by DURKEE. They measure approx. 11" W X 18" H-See images compared to 2 liter soda bottle. Both lanterns have their original light socket fixtures. However they were cut to be removed from the ship and one of the lanterns has an electric cord added, but easily removed with no modification of the lantern. There is a beautiful patina to the brass. I'm not sure how old they are, but probably 30's-40's. They are very heavy and well made. The mirrors attached to inside back of lantern are spotted from age, there are a few dings in the brass-see images. One is totally complete. The other is missing the two brass bands that hold ... morethe glass in. These bands appear simple to replicate and attach with small screws. Also the glass has a small chip on the inside of the glass. The screw in cap on top of one lantern is marked DURKEE MARINE PRODUCTS CORP STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. the other is not. Both glasses are marked DURKEE MARINE PROD and have bubbles in the glass. They both may be missing some sort of band around the top as there is discoloration there and some holes. These would be awesome restored and either used on a ship or decor for a man cave or nautically inspired room! Set of 3 Old Signed PERKO Brass Marine Lamps PORT STARBOARD & MASTHEAD
This is an original matching set. Each signed"PERKO, PERKINS MARINE LAMP& HARDWARE CO. BROOKLYN, N.Y. U.S.A. on the back. All three are brass, with original burners signed"PERKO U.S.A. on the wick adjustment knobs. The red and green lenses are signed"PERKO" and the clear lens appears to be unsigned. The clear lens has NO chips, the green lens has one tiny nick, and the red lens has two chips, each approx. 1/2" long on the top edge. Each lamp measures approx. 11-3/4" high to top of cap and 13-1/2" high to top of ring. All three are from the same vintage, with kerosene fonts and burners, but also with a place to wire a small electrical socket. At some point in their life all three were painted with a coat of light brown paint, which will strip off easily enough. However, there are two old solder repairs to the two burner spring clips, and at some point someone cut a crude hole in the bottom hinged cover plate for an electric wire. Glass lenses appear to be the originals and are in good condition with NO cracks or chips. Still in very nice overall condition, just needs cleaning and polishing-if desired. These copper and brass reproduction ships lamps are the ultimate touch for any marine themed room. Office or restaurant. Their functional design and implied marine heritage make them unique and comfortable. The lower lamps can be lit with their red and green lenses for a little extra impact or they can simply be used as reading lamps with the shaded upper lights.
