THE TOP HAS LATCHES THAT OPEN UP AND THERE IS A TEAL GREEN/BLUE GLOBE ON THE INTERIOR AS SHOWN. SMALL RIVET ON THE LATCH WILL NEED REPAIRING. AS SHOWN THE WIRE HAS BEEN CUT. Vintage Solid Brass Ships Red& White Mast Head Light with Fresnal Lens Search This ship's mast head light is made up of solid brass parts with red and clear Fresnal glass lens' It measures 22 1/2" from the top of the handle to the base. It is approximately 8" in diameter and weighs 19 3/4 pounds. It obviously has been exposed to sea air and has a wonderful patina and wear. It has been electrified with new wiring that can be adapted to any use the new owner wishes. The glass has a few nicks that are old ones and do not detract from the beauty of the piece. This piece was probably from a fishing vessel because it has the red lens on top which means"Red over White- Fishing at night" If it was reversed with the clear on top it would mean"White over Red- Pilot Ahead" All orders over $25 require insurance ... morewhich will be included in the shipping cost. Heavy bronze industrial or marine masthead light by Durkee Marine Products Corp. Staten Island NY off from an old liberty ship that was broken up in South Portland Maine. Condition with the exception of cleaning is very good with just a minor chip out of the clear glass lens but no cracks or breaks. Wired for 110 volts but should be rewired if you intend to use. Weight is 13 Lbs.

Has been painted black probably along time ago as paint is ageing and flaking. Makes it look like a nice patina finish. Has diamond shape tag attached at top. Can just make out letters HG. Number on tag“M35216” Number etched on glass lens. Same number on tag on oil container inside. Light was once oil fired but someone has wired it and installed electric light bulb to oil reservoir.
