Although it is new it has never been sold, but has been stored for 20 years. This lamp not been polished. There is definite age progression! Note: The burner insert is separated from it's base wire. Item does have patina. And factory soldering shown in brass. The lantern stands 15" high. It is 6" on each side, and weighs in at about 5 lbs. What a great addition to a nautical collection. Vintage Antique Ship Lanterns 1900's Brass Ships Gimbaled Oil Lanterns Rare
You are bidding on a pair of very rare. Brass gimbaled oil lanterns which were manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. These are beautiful and hard to find in this condition. However, when I was taking pictures, I unfortunately broke one of the green glass shades. I have tried to find another shade, but have been unable to do so. I have been able to find many antique restoration companies, one of which I have spoken to in great detail about the broken shade. He assures me that he can restore the shade to its former glory with very faint visibility. If the break is turned to the back of the lantern, it will be invisible to the eye. I will be glad to send the shade myself, or if the winning bidder would like to find their own restoration specialist, I will provide the pieces carefully wrapped. There are only three ... morebroken pieces and they fit together perfectly. These lamps were manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland and the brass nameplate is attached to the front of each lantern with that information. The lamp bodies are very heavy brass and are fully gimbaled. These are self-leveling lamps for use on the high seas. The wall brackets have a fleur-di-lis type decorative look. The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"John Scott Made In England" The last two pictures show small cracks at the top of each body. These appear to be caused by age. The lamps have not been polished because I personally find them more beautiful in their aged condition. The clear glass chimneys are both in perfect condition with no flaws of any kind. The one shade is also perfect with no flaws. The second shade was discussed above. The brass body measures approximately 17" from bottom to the top of the oil burner and is approximately 10" in width at its widest point. Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. The font/burner appears to be in very good condition, no holes or leaks, and is marked DIETZ CONVEX. Rare 1800s Miller Brass Binnacle Ship Hand Oil Lamp w Eisinglass Front EXCELLENT
This auction is for a very rare Miller brass binnacle hand lamp. The bottom removes with an oil lamp base with a simplex wick holder. It is signed E Miller Company made in USA and has a brand new wick. The oil lamp locks into the base. It has vent holes at the bottom and the top. It has a wood carrying handle and an Eisinglass/ isinglass front that is still intact. The lamp measures 8 ¼ inches with the handle up and 7 inches with the handle down and measures 2 ¾ inches in diameter. A ships binnacle lamp has no steel anywhere in it. It is made of all brass so that it would not interfere with the ships compass. This is a very rare piece, don't miss this opportunity to add this to your collection. There are no nicks or chips in the glass but some loss to color on the red and green see photos. Extremely great piece and would be great in your home for lighting or patio or boat. Rare Ship's Cone-top Bird Cage Whale Oil Lantern. Tufts 1860 Brass Ships Lantern
Extremely Rare American Pat. dated March 13. 1860 Brass Ships Lantern! Same Patent date as Tufts Lanterns made in Boston and probably a Rare Tufts Lantern as shown. The date is on the bottom of the heavy glass Globe which is original to the Lamp. All Brass and in the early Bird Cage form. Complete with original Brass Whale Oil Burner, see photo#5. The Punched Tin Cone-top is fantastic, see photo#2. I see no damage or repairs and it measures 17 1/2" tall and 21" if you include the Ring Handle. 9" in diameter across the bottom. Quite heavy about 10 lbs. due mainly to the heavy glass Globe. A very rare piece of nautical History with 150 years of patina, never polished! With a funnel for oil. It has a shade of bubbled glass protected by brass rods. And has a clear inner chimney. The wick is adjustable. The shade can be raised and lowered to service the burner. There are five brass rods which can be linked to form a chain for hanging the lantern. Jylland" is the longest wooden ship in the world today. It is is very good condition considering its age! It has a very nice patina to it and all of the glass is still intact. It also has all of the reflector plates on the inside lid. This is important because there are reproductions out there and they do not have the reflector plates. Reproductions also don't have the lead flaps at the tops of the glass panels to hold the glass in. The other thing to look for is the data plate. Reproductions are usually thin and cheesy looking. This lamp has the nice thick data plate. I did my research before buying this at the auction and am 100% confident that this is an original. Lamp measures a stately 23" to top of handle. 18" tall without handle and at its widest a 10" diameter. With the exception of a dent in the brass at the base the lantern is in excellent condition. Lantern inner chimney has a couple of chips and a crack at the bottom where it sits in base. This can be easily replace but I beleive that this one is original so I will not replace. Lantern has maker marks of"S.Co.Ltd. 1941" Im not sure if this is a ship lantern, railway lantern or what- I dont know much about these. Lantern is in great condition and all pieces seem to be there. Lantern measures 20" tall with handle extended up. The wick key is attached to side and wick turn knob works good. No broken glass on paynes and side door works good. Wonderful estate found matching pair of older heavy brass nautical ship oil lamps featuring a bell and a rounded base that rocks like a buoy. Both are converted to electricity and work well. This one appears to be a Viking but I cannot find any markings on this lantern or the lamp itself. It is complete. The wick is inside of the oil tank as shown. Has a black wooden handle on the top. The door opens and closes shut properly. Looks to have never been lit. There is one small dent in the side of the top. otherwise no damage. Measures about 6 1/2" X 7" X 16" tall including the hanlde. It is marked"No. L688" and"Not Under Command" The lantern is mostly made of brass and copper. The glass in the middle is in good shape with no chips or cracks and has a red lens inside signifying that it would have hung on the port side. Overall it is in good shape except for a dent in the copper lid that looks like it could be easily popped out. Comes complete with the removable oil reservoir and and burner.
