Vintage Antique Ship Lanterns 1900's Brass Ships Gimbaled Oil Lanterns Rare
You are bidding on a pair of very rare. Brass gimbaled oil lanterns which were manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. These are beautiful and hard to find in this condition. However, when I was taking pictures, I unfortunately broke one of the green glass shades. I have tried to find another shade, but have been unable to do so. I have been able to find many antique restoration companies, one of which I have spoken to in great detail about the broken shade. He assures me that he can restore the shade to its former glory with very faint visibility. If the break is turned to the back of the lantern, it will be invisible to the eye. I will be glad to send the shade myself, or if the winning bidder would like to find their own restoration specialist, I will provide the pieces carefully wrapped. There are only three ... morebroken pieces and they fit together perfectly. These lamps were manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland and the brass nameplate is attached to the front of each lantern with that information. The lamp bodies are very heavy brass and are fully gimbaled. These are self-leveling lamps for use on the high seas. The wall brackets have a fleur-di-lis type decorative look. The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"John Scott Made In England" The last two pictures show small cracks at the top of each body. These appear to be caused by age. The lamps have not been polished because I personally find them more beautiful in their aged condition. The clear glass chimneys are both in perfect condition with no flaws of any kind. The one shade is also perfect with no flaws. The second shade was discussed above. The brass body measures approximately 17" from bottom to the top of the oil burner and is approximately 10" in width at its widest point. Antique& Vintage Solid Brass Gimbaled Ship Nautical Candle Holders Wall Sconces. I write Antique& Vintage as 1 looks to be a copy of the original small differences can be seen in pics 2& 3. The older piece has very heavy obvious use wear throughout metal is smooth no ridges left. Both have wear are dirty and tarnished throughout. Both weigh 1 pound 14 ounces each so a good copy I would say. Could also be 2nd piece was handled less but my though its a copy. The bases are exact underneath so maybe just a replaced ball and stem holder.

I've never seen this style before. Mfd. by Perko. The main body of the lamp is cast brass and the upper parts are stamped. It stands about 6.5" tall and weighs about 2.5 lbs. A SET OF ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN BRASS GIMBALED NAUTICAL SHIP LAMPS
A good example of a ships gimbaled lamp from the Edwardian era. The numbers on the base are AP9009 and the makers mark is almost visible. They have been rewired at some point and have a switch in the cord. They are set into a Finished Mahogany base. They could use a good cleaning and have the usual scratches and dings which is not unusual for there age. These are not an exact pair but very close. The lamp shades are included.

Old Gimbaled Brass Ships Lamp VG-EXC
My wife and I are still living full time in our motorcoach. Currently. We are in Yuma, AZ for the winter. This summer we spent a few weeks clearing out our storage. We put lots of stuff in the coach to sell this winter. Item: Old Gimbaled Brass Ships Lamp Size: 7 inches tall x 4 inches wide at the tank. Approximate Weight: NA. Fits in a Medium Flat Rate Box. Made/Marked: Don't know where it was made. It does not have any maker's marks on it. Condition: Very good to excellent. It has been used sometime in the past. There is the very faint smell of lamp oil or kerosene on the wick. It has some minor discoloration here and there. Use Brasso. What appears to be a ding in the last picture is actually a spot that is more polished than the rest of the lamp. Notes: Does not have a chimney. Shipping: We will combine shipping. This Vintage Brass Gimbal Oil Cabin Lamp was manufactured by Sherwoods LTD. of Birmingham. England, in the early 1900′s. Sherwoods was one of the largest manufacturers of new lighting devices in England, producing oil lamps, lanterns, and burners. They went into business in 1902, but unfortunately went out of business in 1932. Cabin oil lamp with smoke Bell W/Bracket, Shade, wick, Gimbal mount and glass chimney. The lamp has a heavy weighted bottom. Lamp with Chimney is 16 1/4" Tall.This has been in my collection for 40 years.

Solid brass antique gimbaled oil lamps
A pair of solid brass oil lamps with gimbaled brass holders. Spun brass soot toppers and glass hurricane globes. These were on my parents old wooden sailboat for years before I mounted them onto wall sconces. Brass has gotten a patina over the years. I was going to polish them, but frankly, I think they look better just the way they are.
