This lamp would be on the port or left side of the ship and would be attached to a horizontal spar called a yard. This type of oil lamp has what is refereed to as an onion glass shade because of it's shape. The lamp measures just over 14 inches tall at 36 cm not including the bail or handle. The lamp has it's original paint decorated surface and beautiful red onion globe. It has never been electrified. It still has it's original oil font. This lamp is like a time capsule and is really in untouched original condition. A 150 year old memento of a time and a way of life long gone. It is very decorative. There is no reserve. Antique whale oil lamp lantern light onion globe silver plated BIG nautical
This incredible light is from an old Wellesley MA estate. It stands about 20" tall to the top of the fixed ring on the top of the heat cage. The globe is around 10" in diameter. The metal surfaces are silver plated and in need of polishing. The base has some denting as shown. The font is original but the burner is missing. The light was electrified at some point but it would be easy enough to remove those parts. A very rare light. Thanks for looking.

Marine Nautical 1851 Ouvrard & Villars Red Globe Anchor Lamp onion copper brass
Market fresh find; Original to the mid-1800's from the French Crimean war era. This is an Ouvrard& Villars Nautical Anchor lamp; Beautiful condition, it is constructed of hammered copper with a dual-ring brass cage. Original ruby flashed red globe. Marked O V Depose on the copper. May very well have come from one of the Ironclad Steam Battleships on the Black Sea, I purchased this lantern from the estate of a very meticulous and discriminating lamp collector. This piece has undergone a no-harm electrification. Which can easily be removed. The original oil burner is wired to the underside of the chimney. The original font is in place. The bottom of the font has been painted on the underside. I can't guarantee the font won't leak, but I suspect(but can't confirm) it was painted to stop any rust.
