The lamps are large and measure 14 1/2" tall and have a diameter of 7" These solid brass ship lanterns at one point were electrified however no permanent damage was done during the electrifying process and the added sockets can be easily removed bringing them back for their original purpose. If you intend to use them with electricity then a new cord will be required as the cords were cut during removal. Neither has the interior oil lamp and I have been told that just about any small metal wide bottom oil lamp can be used. Both lanterns have their original thick heavy clear lens and these are in excellent condition. They also retain their bottom lenses(shown in images) Both tops are hinged with their original thumb screw and have their original bail handle. The brass is in very good condition with no damage. A beautiful set for any nautical themed spot or with a little work a great addition on your boat. Our items come from private estates filled with porcelain. RARE Vintage Lantern Light Buoy Piling Ship Anchor Dock Nautical Galv. Brass
Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. The globe is in very nice shape with no damage and just slight wear. The glass is ever so slightly cloudy on the inside but perhaps this can be polished away? U. S. NAVY WW II MASTHEAD LIGHT This great light is waterproof and sported 6 x 15 volts for very bright lights. Why 6 you ask? Because the light was positioned on top of the mast. Making it hard to reach to replace a bulb during battle conditions, and if some burned out the others carried on! I have no idea how the bulbs were powered or how the wiring worked. You can take out the bulb sockets in the light and it has a pretty deep cavity to either place a battery or add your own lighting. I did not make any holes or try to adapt it for a more modern light. Very nice nautical sail ship night light. Fair shape for it's age. No chips or cracks in the glass bottom. Glass bottom has chipped paint and chrome needs polishing. But it looks so cool lite up! The green and red colored plastic on the deck is cracked on each side, but not very noticable. All sails are there but strings need reattched in a few places. THANK YOU FOR VISITING US COTTAGE and CASTLE DESCRIPTION: Vintage Maritime Nautical FRESNEL LENS LAMP. Boat or Dock Light* This is a vintage maritime nautical Fresnel Lens Lamp that was previously being used as a dock light in Austoria. Oregon on Oregon's North Coast. It appears to be brass or copper metal(do not know if solid or plate) It has a glass fresnel lens. It measures approximately 7 1/2" tall to top of hanger and 4 1/2" in diameter at the base. It is wired to take a standard electric light bulb. The metal top and bottom attach to fresnel lens with thumb set screws. It is as found and well weathered from years of use although it is still functional. We have not cleaned the metal or glass and there are deposits from the elements on both the metal and glass. It could probably be cleaned up but wanted to leave it with ... moreits original weahered look. Other than the the weathering from the elements it is in good vintage condition and the glass fresnel lens does not have any cracks or chips. Large Anchor Brass Lantern Copper 19" lamp light ship nautical nautical marine
Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work.
