This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like ... moreit listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos for the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. If you are a serious collector you do not want to miss the opportunity to own this lantern you may never see another one like it on Ebay. This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. Aldis Lantern Handheld Nautical Maritime Ship Signal Light Lamp 4 Inch
For your consideration today is a beautiful example of a 4 inch. Handheld Aldis lantern used as a ships' signal light. Included. Is an old custom made oak box with a missing handle/strap, an extra blue lens and connecting cable with brass fittings. The extra lens does have a crack as shown in the photo. I did look for identifying marks, but none were found. What looks like a nameplate on the side and another on the bottom of the unit, is rubbed clean evidently from years of use. Although I don't have a power source to test this lamp. When I depress the switch, I get a good continuity reading on my ohmmeter, and when released, it shows none. This tells me that the cable, switch and lamp are still good. The signaling trigger appears to work, as when it is pulled, the mirror does pivot slightly up and down. The areoscope(telescopic sight) ... moreis clear and the sighting cross-hairs are crisp and visible. All-in-all, for its age, this wonderful piece of maritime history is in good condition. This is wired for electricity but I don't know if it is original wiring or was rewired or what. To be honest. I haven't plugged it in to test whether it works or not. Either. Because I am just a little scared to do so! I don't see why it wouldn't work but again, I am not 100% sure that it does. It stands a little over 14 in. tall and the base is almost 7 in. across. Antique Peter Gray Maritime Nautical Red Globe Anchor Lantern Light Great Lakes?
Just out of a local house is this antique Maritime Ships lamp. It was made by Peter Gray around 1890 or perhaps earlier. The lantern is galvanized with old red paint. It has a Fresnel glass globe that is clear on the outside and cased with a layer or red glass on the inside. I have seen these listed in our lantern books listed as Great Lakes lights. Navy Lanterns, Stern, or Anchor lights. This light measures about 19 3/4 inches tall. 7 inches across the base, and about 7 1/2 inches at its widest. It is in good condition but has some oxidation, some damage where the bottom of the cage meets the base, and the lens has a chip. See photos. The font has an unusual burner marked Gray Boston. But you can't hardly tell with the colors of the lantern. This lantern is unmarked. It is very solid and well made. Vintage nautical ships lantern. Kerosene/oil. The piece measures about 10.5" tall and has a green lens. Also included with the piece is a spare red lens. The piece is complete, except for a wick. You can see in one of the pictures the interior burner unit. Overall the piece is in good shape, some denting. No markings that I can find.

Antique Vintage Wedge Brass lantern, maritime lamp, nautical light mine railroad
amazing antique vintage brass oil lantern. I dont know exactly the age of the piece but it is in really good shape. The main material is brass with cool copper rivets, there are a couple steel pieces that keep the piece together. the lantern has the original patina it has not been cleaned, some people prefer it like that. this is an estate sale find in great condition, measurements 4 1/2 deep 4 1/2 wide this measurements are of the box only by 9 1/2 tall. please feel free to contact me with any questions, thanks you.

Antique whale oil lamp lantern light onion globe silver plated BIG nautical
This incredible light is from an old Wellesley MA estate. It stands about 20" tall to the top of the fixed ring on the top of the heat cage. The globe is around 10" in diameter. The metal surfaces are silver plated and in need of polishing. The base has some denting as shown. The font is original but the burner is missing. The light was electrified at some point but it would be easy enough to remove those parts. A very rare light. Thanks for looking.

Vintage ship light in galvanized metal with green lens. The light is in overall good condition- it has more rust stains than rust. I wiped it down but it is dirty. Especially on the inside. The mirrors on the inside are intact, but dirty. See photo#7. The lens is thick plastic- it has a small chip at the top left(photo#11) To the right of the chip looks like a crack but I couldn't find any fracture.
