The lamp stays level at any angle. It also has wear to the finish with corrosion on several spots. So study the pictures carefully. Although most of the piece is made of brass I suspect the shade is a different metal, perhaps copper. I have not tried lighting the lamp(no oil) so I can't say how well it works. Pat. 1890 Tarnished Brass Marine Oil Lamp Lantern Light, much rarer than Perko
Beautiful darkly tarnished 10" tall brass marine lantern with no stress cracks. See 360 degree images. Heavy glass globe is damage free and has 3/4" dimple cast in it as some sort of focusing device{see image with flame} Spring clips that retain the oil font have 1890 patent dates on them. Good working burner uniquely flips up for refilling. Bottom of font is dented and has a large solder repair on in but does not leak and rest correctly in lantern base. Beautiful display piece or rare design with a great patina. Quite heavy.

This is an Antique PERKO Solid Brass Marine OIL Lantern Towing Lamp with RED lens. This is a very old original Marine lantern. I believe off of a Tug/ Tow Boat. It is an OIL lantern. The bottom detaches a Oil lantern. The Glass lens has NO cracks, but the red film has spidering, see pictures. Glass intact. It is labeled with PERKO- Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corporation- Made in Miami, Florida. It is about 18" tall, the flat sides are 10" across and about 15" across. The large brass lantern has Great Patina! This is all original vintage,oil lantern, no electrifying. Collector's take a close look- You won't find one with this age and in this condition often. Very beautiful Antique Vintage Marine oil lamp. Has a 360 Degree Fresnel lens which seems to have no chips but. Has cool bubbles and imperfections. The oil lamp has National Marine Lamp company stamped on knob and is in good condition but, should have new wick installed. The hinge to bottom is missing and should be repaired. PERKO Hanging Electric Lamp / Marine Fixture #1024 - Ship Oil Lantern Style
PLEASE READ. I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS ITEM TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS PRIOR TO PURCHASE. Some people convert Perko oil lamps into electric lamps. But thanks to the picture on the box, I know that this was never an oil lamp. This was an actual electric lamp that was manufactured and sold by Perko, and it was intended to be used inside the home. It is hard to read, but it looks like 1972 is the postmark date on the box. I have had this Perko hanging electric lamp for over a year now. And in that time, I haven't been able to find out anything about it. I haven't even been able to find a picture of another one online. If it weren't for the original shipping box, I wouldn't know anything about it at all. This lamp has some minor straches. But no dings or dents that I can see. The ... moreglass appears to be crack and chip free. I'm not sure if the lamp currently works, but it would be best to have it serviced and/or re-wired regardless. It is about 21" long(not including the length of the chain) weights around 10-12 lbs and it is made of solid brass. The patina is natural; not fake.

This Vintage Brass Gimbal Oil Cabin Lamp was manufactured by Sherwoods LTD. of Birmingham. England, in the early 1900′s. Sherwoods was one of the largest manufacturers of new lighting devices in England, producing oil lamps, lanterns, and burners. They went into business in 1902, but unfortunately went out of business in 1932. Cabin oil lamp with smoke Bell W/Bracket, Shade, wick, Gimbal mount and glass chimney. The lamp has a heavy weighted bottom. Lamp with Chimney is 16 1/4" Tall.This has been in my collection for 40 years.

Pair of Vintage Antique Brass Perko Marine Ship Oil Lamp Lanterns Port Starboard
This listing is for a pair of Vintage Antique Perko Nautical Marine Ship Port and Starboard Oil Lamp Lanterns. Both lanterns are marked Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. Perko Brooklyn. NY, USA. The lanterns are in good shape for their age and the lanterns themselves stand about 9 inches tall. They do have some dents and dings towards the tops of the lanterns but the glass has no cracks and is in good shape. They do have alot of oxidation, minor on the outside and major on the inside. I was not going to clean them because I did not want to discolor them but they will hopefully clean up very nicely if cleaned properly. In the last picture you can see one hinge is slightly bent so it is a little harder to close and open that side of the lantern but each opening on the lanterns do lock.
