It may need to be cleaned or polished but I am selling it as is as some collectors like things in original condition and also. This lamp is authentic and dated 1943 made in Great Britain. The stamp also includes a number(865) The lamp is 18 in high with handle and weighs about 8 lbs. This piece of history was brought back from Britain after WWII by a distant relative and is authentic and very unusual. The brass has acquired a weathered patina but could be polished if desired.

It weighs a little over 12 pounds. I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. It's also very LARGE. It measures about 13 1/2" tall, 13 3/4" wide and is approximately 9 1/2" deep from each corner to the back. It was a originally a kerosene or oil ship's lantern. It's an amazing light! It's in excellent working condition, it's been newly re-wired& has an antique switch in the front(converted to electric) The switch is turned to right each time you want to turn it off or no. It has a removable red port glass(see photos of it turned on, with and without the red glass) The clear glass has a small 1/2" chip in one of the ... moreribbed sections; it's a very heavy thick glass so this does not compromise anything. Near the top of the lamp there's an emblem that has the numbers"3883" There is also some etching on both the clear and red glass. I wonder if this belonged to a military ship. As most items on those ships were marked with serial#s etc. The writing on each glass piece says"DHJE 3883, No. 654, E.31.5.61" It's not very noticable and you can't see it unless you really look; it's not seen when the light is on. The door does stick some; you have to put some effort into it, to open it. Condition wise.it's vintage! There are a few dings& dents. Some areas of wear etc.but considering it was a ship light, it's going to have a weathered old look, which I personally prefer. I've never seen another light like this. It has a great industrial. This 8 inch tall lamp has a 3 1/2 inch tall RED glass bezile lense, There are only a couple of specs on the glass that appears to be in very good condition NO CRACKS. The base is 6 inches across and the light is very heavy duty. Not sure if it is military as it appears to be somewhat grey in coloring. There is a number 9-S 4473-L in raised lettering on top. There is a 64 inch heavy duty cord with some type of plug in socket end see photo 5. Not sure if from a ship, dock or pier. Not sure if it works or what type of power supply it used. This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. Aldis Lantern Handheld Nautical Maritime Ship Signal Light Lamp 4 Inch
For your consideration today is a beautiful example of a 4 inch. Handheld Aldis lantern used as a ships' signal light. Included. Is an old custom made oak box with a missing handle/strap, an extra blue lens and connecting cable with brass fittings. The extra lens does have a crack as shown in the photo. I did look for identifying marks, but none were found. What looks like a nameplate on the side and another on the bottom of the unit, is rubbed clean evidently from years of use. Although I don't have a power source to test this lamp. When I depress the switch, I get a good continuity reading on my ohmmeter, and when released, it shows none. This tells me that the cable, switch and lamp are still good. The signaling trigger appears to work, as when it is pulled, the mirror does pivot slightly up and down. The areoscope(telescopic sight) ... moreis clear and the sighting cross-hairs are crisp and visible. All-in-all, for its age, this wonderful piece of maritime history is in good condition. Rare Vintage NY & NJ Port Authority Red Lamp Light Beacon Nautical Airports
For auction is a rare Light/Lamp/Beacon. From the New York and New Jersey Port Authority. It's used but in great shape and DOES WORK! I tested it with a 6 volt battery, but its probably designed for a 9 or 12. I'm not sure what this was for exactly, but some kind of signal, possibly for a port, an airport, or one of the bridges/tunnels. It's all steel, and has a glass globe on top with a red plastic insert. It measures 8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide, and about 12 inches tall including the globe. It's made tough, weighing 8 pounds. It has a toggle switch on the top. It doesn't blink but does turn on steady. It's supposed to blink but there may be a wiring error or an issue with the relay. There is also some rust on the bottom of the battery box but no holes. These are obsolete and acquired legally. Nice RARE Antique COPPER lamp searchlight from the turn of the century. Beautiful original condition but untested and will likely need restoration in order to function at 100% The glass measures approx. 6" in diameter and the COPPER housing is nearly 6 1/2" deep. The unit is approximately 17" tall from top to bottom. THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE WEIGHS NEARLY 7 POUNDS! Now that's a lot of copper! Because of it's QUALITY EARLY AMERICAN BUILD The mechanical functions work very well. Push the handle up and down and the lamp housing aims upwards and downwards. Turn the handle left or right and the housing turns left and right. The original electrical wiring is still attached. This is a very cool and very unique piece of antique American History. And bought the burner shop Bristol Brass’ in Forestville, CT in 1911. National Marine bought from Bristol Brass, so similarities in the products are to be expected. Later National Marine absorbed a company called American Lamp and Brass. According to Hobson, but the“American” name died with the acquisition. Fredrick Perkins became president of National in 1913.
