Antique Maritime Nautical Galvanized Metal & Copper Lantern body Fresnel Lens
This antique nautical lantern(fore lantern? was purchased at a river-side Estate Sale and had been used as part of the rustic maritime decor in the home's spacious family room. It is 13 1/2" tall(not counting the ring to hang it by) and 6 1/2" in diameter. It weighs nearly 5 pounds. There is no battery; however. The wires are present. The copper needs cleaning and the galvanized metal is weathered. The Fresnel lens seems to be in perfect condition once cleaned up(1st photo is cleaned lens; last photo is uncleaned lens. This Is A Very Large Antique Lantern With A Kerosene Lamp. This Piece Is Very Large And Measures 23 Inches Tall. 9 Inches Wide, And 8 Inches Deep. I Would Date This Piece To The Later Part Of The 19th Century. Might Even Be From The Civil War Era. It Has A Chain On The Back That Was Used To Hang It On A Wall Of A Home Or Stand. This auction is for an antique lantern. Made by J Vogels& ... moreBoon of Nassau, Anvers which is in Belgium. A small tag is on the top of it with the name of the company, and the top also has a serial number on it. This is probably a marine lamp, originally made of copper and brass and painted black on the outside. This has a heavy glass Fresnel lens that goes all the way around the source of light inside, which is currently an electrical light bulb, which we believe was a later addition to this piece. The electrical cord has been cut and tied in a knot, so it would need to be rewired, or you can easily remove the socket. The swing handle is made of heavy wrought iron. This lantern, which stands approx. 11.25" tall and 7.5" in diameter, has been put to work in its past, and shows scars of close encounters with various dings and bends. This would be a great candidate for cleaning and restoration, but we couldn't find any other examples of this particular lamp, so we are calling this rare. Good Luck! Antique Copper & Brass Ship Lantern / Signal Light Lamp J.Vogels - Boon
For your consideration. A J.Vogels-Boon Fabricants copper and brass ships signal lamp with a Fresnel lens, and original oil burner. This is a rare beauty in both availability and condition. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. The door mechanism does need some adjustment to make it operate smoothly, and the oil lamp is missing a glass chimney. Please look at all 12 pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Old Perko lantern ready for display/use. This piece was wired as a light but I removed the wiring because it was faulty. It can very easily be rewired or I think a candle glowing inside would make this piece. Typical wear for this piece few dents and cracks in copper. The glass is original and has a nick near bottom ridge(pictured) The glass is marked Perko. The very bottom is missing one clip and there is a bees tiny nest in top. i was able to remove most of it but a small piece remains. Measures aprox. 14.5 inches tall. RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. Antique Brass/Copper Lantern Display Piece
I don't know a lot about this piece. I know its Brass or Copper or both, I know its old, and its kind of flimsy. The solder joint on the top hinge for the door has come loose, the hinge is intact but it needs to be reattached to the body. The door stays closed with the latch, and it has 3 intact glass panels, a half circle handle, and a standard size candle holder inside. For what its worth, it works, I would say this is more of a decoration at this point then a functional lantern. It is old and dusty, and I am not cleaning it, it is roughly 7.25" tall without the handle, and each side is about 3.25" across, or deep. U.S. shipping to the lower 48, PayPal, and payment is due within 48 hours of auction end. It will be packaged safely in bubble wrap. The candle has been in there for at least 10 years and goes with the lantern.

This interesting old lamp is most likely from the early part of the 20th Century. Perhaps before. It looks as though this piece has all its necessary components including a key, at one the end of the original chain, in order to control light(it moves the wick up and down) Even the wick looks like it would most likely work with a bit of fuel. Old Copper Wall Mount Anchor Lights These are just amazing! and I did not clean them because the patina is so beautiful on this matched pair. Copper and Brass fitted and the glass blown into the copper cage giving them a bubbled look. Captain's wheel in brass on front of wall mount. So unique and cool! They are quite large and measure 15" high( to top of hanger) by 11" deep(from wall mount side) by 9" wide Condition is as shown in pictures. The wall mount bracket on one of the lights needs to be replaced as it is rusted. also. The glass on the interior at bottom on one light is broken. The top handle piece and vertical bars are brass. Along with the front plate, the rest is copper. Vintage Antique STERN Nautical Hong Kong Copper Brass Oil Navigation Lantern 9"
This lantern was probably acquired in Singapore where my father-in-law operated a salvage diving business in the 70's.he was US Navy Diver. Who spent a lot of time on boats-and then driving ships, once he retired. The wick is trimmed, slides securely down and there is a reflector that slides in behind it. The wick cap does not click securely to the oil reservoir, though. The thumb wheel turns the wick up and there is one to open the hatch to pull up and refill the reservoir. The top clicks down securely where the ring is positioned. I have some better pictures but am having some trouble uploading from that camera. Email me if you would like to see more.

Antique RARE Large LIGHTHOUSE Oil Measure Oiler 1800's Copper Pre Civil War
I recently purchased a large collection of nautical items. This is part of that collection. From my research I believe it is a lighthouse oil can but I am not 100% sure. There are no marking on it but from the way it is made I know it is an early piece. It was handmade with a sandcast handle. The rivets to attach the handle are very early. Back plate with rope and anchor is heavy and appears to be copper(magnet does not stick) Lamp Shades appear to be made from heavy tin like some of the old whale oil lamps(magnet does not stick) Surface is aged from natural weathering and shows authentic time honored oxidation and aged corrosion likely from salt in the ocean mist. Both lamps need new wiring. I have examined this unique pitcher and can not find a makers mark or any mark at all. I am convinced that this is a very old hand made item. The patina is untouched and the pitcher appears not to have been repaired. The person who I once purchased this from was heavily into Maritime objects. Brass Oil Lamp in like new condition. The oil wick has never been lit but there is unfortunately a crack at the top of the container as can be seen in the 4th picture. No signs of corrosion or damage anywhere on the lamp. Glass lantern panels and glass lamp chimney in good condition. Beautiful antique port and starboard ship navigation lights. Professionally polished a few years back and still shining like new! Lantern lights are numbered and have matching numbered internal oil burning lamp. Each piece of the lantern light and lamp set is affixed with a brass number plate. One lantern-lamp set is numbered 69998. The other lantern-lamp set is numbered 70001. Each lantern is stamped with maker mark C.M. Hammar. Coteborg. See below C.M. It all started the 9th of May 1856. The traveling blacksmith Carl Mauritz Hammar had arrived to the city of Göteborg on the western coast ... moreof Sweden. In the heart of Scandinavia here was. And still is, the biggest harbour in northern Europe. Here he saw the potential to be a supplier for the city’s big shipyard industry. And on that magic day he received the king’s letter giving him permission to start a sheet metal workshop and the company Hammar. The company soon got recognized as one of the best metal shops in the country. The specialty product segment became navigation lights for ships. Which gave the company a prestigious gold medal in the 1886’s world exhibition in Liverpool. Thanks to one of the sons in the house, Hammar became the first Swedish company to sell compasses in 1895. The son Gustaf was studying in London and learned all about manufacturing compasses from the Hughes family. Until 1978 the company had delivered more than 7000 Hammar compasses.
