The desk stands on a blind plinth with rounded corners. Rising over which are two banks of four drawers, each having solid mahogany fronts with solid brass dropper handles of Rococo design with pierced oval back-plates, the drawers having mahogany linings and dovetail joints. To the kneehole is a single frieze drawer and over each bank there is a pull-out brushing slide. The desk is surmounted by a rounded corner moulded top with an ogee edge cross-banded in mahogany and inset with the antiqued red leather skivers with ... moregold tooling. To the reverse side of the desk there is a panelled back with a modesty panel to the centre. The desk is a free standing piece of furniture to enable it to stand in the centre of a room, and of good size. Date: The desk dates circa 1950- 1980. Condition: The desk is in good original condition for its age. Having one small shrinkage shake in one of the uprights on the rear side of the desk. All of the drawers and slides run well. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. 1930s - 1940s Vintage Oak US Government Office Desk (Used By IRS, WSB, PSU)
This is a nice old desk from I'm guessing the 1930s or 40s. There's a lot of history in this piece- it bears property marks from the Internal Revenue Service. The Philadelphia district Wage Stabilization Board, and Penn State University. It's in good used shape but could use some refinishing to restore it to its full luster. The only thing missing is one of the small side drawers(the empty drawer hole had been previously used as an open access to the top of the middle drawer for storing blueprints, etc. Note: The middle desk drawer is not visible in the first picture- It IS included(picture#7) It measures 60 inches wide by 30 inches tall by 34 inches deep. We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. It is"Stickley" styled with a clean, simple design. The desk top is compromised of 2 planks which provide a generous work space. It has a single center drawer for pens, pencils, etc. Each side features two, open shelves for paper/file storage. The legs are simple and slightly supercede the height of the table top. The desk has wooden buttons which cover the screws/nails. It is in very good antique condition. There is a very slight bow on the top which is neither severe or distracting. A vintage Roll Top Desk made of Oak. Circa 1920. We are pleased to present this vintage Roll Top Desk for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood and dates to around the 1920's. The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. The height of the upper section is low enough to allow this piece to be placed in the open, and still offer a view behind the Desk. The back is finished, further assisting an open placement. Keys are included for the two major locks, but missing for the small compartment near the right side(see last picture) The Desk measures 43 inches high. 54 inches wide, and 30-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks on it to identify the manufacturer. The Desk can be disassembled ... moreinto several pieces, to ease the task of moving it and particularly to simplify the job of getting it through doorways. Wear is consistent with the age of the piece. Exterior surfaces look quite good with only a few areas of worn finish. Circa 1940 Office Desk. 4' x 3' very good condition. The drawers are 3' long each. The lamp is also included in this auction. The desk pad and glass top are not available; the glass top was broken by the movers. The movers also made 3 gashes on the top of the desk. We tried to blend in the gashes with a brown marker, but I'm sure it can be fixed in a more professional. Other than that(and a little wear along the bottom and sides) it is in very good shape. I am also throwing in an office chair, also in very good condition. All items sold as is. We're moving, hence the low starting bid.

Antique executive office wood desk has 6 drawers tongue & groove joints
Roomy vintage-antique desk with a rich patina of age to its wood(oak pecan? is great for a home office. It has beveled edges. A center drawer for cash and paperwork, one deep and one shallow drawer on its left, and three shallow drawers on the right. The joints have tongue and groove construction. This desk has a work surface that is 31 inches deep and 59 inches long. This desk stands securely on its 8 feet and is 31 inches tall. There are pullout shelves on each side on which to write or to hold additional papers while you work. E ach measures 12 inches by 13 1/4 inches. The drawers are under the pull-outs. The top left drawer is 10 1/2 inches deep. The center drawer is 12 by 24 inches and 2 inches deep. There is an indentation for pens and pencils. The drawer locked. But the key is long gone. The other drawers are 4 1/2 inches deep and ... moremeasure 12 1/2 inches by 24 inches. The bottom right drawer is stuck and won't open up for us. All drawers stay closed with the center drawer closed. There are wood drawer pulls that were painted gold. But the paint has worn off from use in several places. The handles are screwed on, as is the top, so it can be taken off when you move this heavyweight. This desk looks great. But could use a refinishing, if so desired. There's a layer of grime and the surface is worn from use in the center of the desktop. There's also scratches, veneer issues, dents, dings and general wear that you'd expect a piece to receive over a century or so of use. There's no maker mark on this piece. So we're unsure of the history on this estate sale find. It's sturdy, though, and quite functional(we've been using it for work) and has decades more service in it. Rare Early Primitive Post Office Mail Cabinet Desk w/shelves, drawers, drop leaf
This came from an estate of an 85+ year old who had this in his garage. He was a machinist and used it for storage. We were told it was originally out of a post office. We think it dates back to the teens or 1920's-30's. It's made of pine. Is very sturdy and is in very good condition. We cleaned it up and lightly sanded it. You can use it as you see it or refinish it as you wish. It is approx. 80" tall by 39" wide. It's in Redlands, Calif. Buyer to come pick it up or arrange for shipping at buyers expense.
