The secretary is in fair condition, and unfortunately has ... moresome issues. The shelves are loose within the bookshelf / Vitrine section and also within the secretary slant front portion, but the glass is intact within the door. The secretary has an amazing custom cut beveled mirror with a 1-inch bevel, that is on the top at the right side and lovely carved details and applied accents all throughout. The backing on the mirror is a bit loose, but this should be an easy fix. The piece is lockable, however, there is no key with it. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

Made of walnut and burled walnut veneer, the desk has 3 drawers in the lower section, the middle section is a drop front desk with pigeon holes and leather work space, the upper section has leaded glass doors and adjustable shelves. Measures 71- 1/4" tall(almost 6 feet) x 29- 1/2" wide; the lower section is 16" deep, the upper is 7- 3/4" deep. Condition is excellent as shown in the photos. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. An antique. Circa 1900, mahogany stained maple double door bookcase. The doors have upper leaded glass design of tulip and leaf, the tulips with beveled glass. There are two interior sections each with three adjustable removable shelves. The case has front corner columns with carved capitols, and paw front feet on casters. Cabinet measures 5' 60" tall by 4' 48" wide by 14" deep, the shelves 10" deep. Very good condition: original finish- some minor stain or ring spot on the top, maple without chips or cracks. Crack to a leaded glass petal and crack to tip of a tulip petal. All leading original and secure. The glass door panels are fine and original. The doors have had their locks removed, each door now with glass handles that replace the original metal handles.
