Overall height is47.75" high with the writing desk top at a standard 30" height from the floor. It has a blind front oak panel where the center drawer once sat but for some reason the previous owner chose to do away with the drawer and make a blind front oak board. The original drawer guides are still intact and you could easily add a drawer box to the panel to have a top center drawer again. Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. A beautiful antique roll top desk in great condition for the age. This desk measures 48.25" high at the back center. It has a width of 49.5" and a depth of 31.5" The kneehole height is 27.25" to the bottom of the cross board and the width is 29" The bottom section of the desk has four small drawers on the right side with a pullout writing surface above it. The right side has two small drawers above a larger file drawer. The divider board in this drawer is broken. There is also a pullout writing surface abov this bank of drawers. Only one of the other six drawers has a divider section in it. The remaining pieces are missing. There is a locking mechanism on the bottom section. It is a little sticky. All of the drawers have decorative fan style handles made from wood. The top section has various sized cubbies and only ... moreone drawer. Vintage Solid Oak S Roll Top Desk
SquareTrade © AP6.0 You are looking at a Vintage Solid Oak S Roll Top Desk. It has oak panels in back and sides. The manufacturer is the Colonial Mount Airey Furniture Co. The age of the desk is unknown. But could be anywhere from 1895 to the mid 1940's. It is in very good condition except in a couple spots where a marker was used and in the back where a hole was made for wires or cables. This is for local pickup only unless someone wants to arrange to have it picked up. Oak Roll Top Office Desk by Northwestern Furniture Company. Milwaukee, WI: I'm not sure what era this comes from. But it appears to be older. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. What you see for sale is a very good quality 50" S-Roll top desk with raised panels and many cubbies and drawers inside. The desk is in very good condition having been professionally restored in the summer of 2012. The desk was fully stripped and sanded and then restained. The desk was made by the Gunn MFG Company in Grand Rapids. MI. For a little history on The Gunn Company read below. Measurements are 50"W 35"D 50"H. Gunn Furniture Co.s history can be traced back to 1874. When William S. Gunn started selling furniture at his Grand Rapids hardware store. In 1890 he incorporated his own manufacturing firm, the Gunn Folding Bed Co. Because the popularity of folding beds was waning fast, three years later he changed his company's name to the Gunn Furniture Co. and started making desks, bookcases, files and other office ... morefurniture. The woods he used included walnut, oak and mahogany. The firm was sold in 1953 to Bergsma Brothers, Inc. also of Grand Rapids. Bergsma Brothers closed in 1985. So that means. It was made by the Paris Manufacturing Company of South Paris, Maine, probably around 1910 or later. It has a flexible roll top, flat writing surface, storage compartments with a little drawer, plus two larger drawers on the right. But the rest is legible. Quick restore polish used on the furniture. In Storage for years.I did do a repair on the rear leg as shown. Was cracked and poorly repaired. Removed the old metal brace. I took the leg off and drilled ... moreboth portions in the center of the 2 pieces and installed a steel rod 1/2" diameter X 6" length. Pin is not visible as the pin is in the middle of the wood. The leg will NEVER break there again. A new L brace on the back side unseen from the front to complete the repair.Nice tight repair. Other issue is the tamba door which rolls up& down. I had to duct tape the handle on the back side. A new cloth or woven material should be glued on the back side so it rolls nicely again as one. Probably billiard felt would work well too. With contact cement on both portions and clamp. The door rolls as shown now. I spent enough time repairing the leg on this so new owner will complete this noted defect. For ultimate show the piece should be refinished or at minimum touched up with Orange shellac as is the original finish still on the pieces.Typical of 1940s-1950s furniture refinishing. Repair shop can do this relatively easy. If I had more time would do it myself. Its noted so no surprises. That said its a nice older sturdy desk that will retain value. Oak is always desired. Mahogany Roll Top Desk with Skeleton Key
Roll Top Desk with two drawers and 4 storage compartments locks with Skeleton Key. Has some wear and scratches in the tower cabinet from moving tower in and out to adjust wires over the years however the unit is solid no particle board quality piece of furniture. Missing pull out keyboard drawer as we never liked it and preferred to use the keyboard on top of the desk. must be moved in two pieces when separated unit is not stable on the bottom as it needs the top unit to balance it so must pick up with bungee cords or twine. Vintage Industrial Steel Roll Top Desk - No Reserve!!
Vintage. Industrial style steel roll top desk, thought to be from the 1940's. This desk has an inventory tag from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City(FRB of KC 4351" Original beige paint, brass accents and original key and lock still works. Very good condition but there are a few small blemishes and dust consistent with a piece that is approximately 70 years old. Dimensions are 72" wide, 36" deep and 29" tall. I've seen similar desks sell for thousands of dollars! Unfortunately, I don't have time to wait for"that" buyer and need to sell the desk now. The desk is located in Kansas City, Missouri. $100 nonrefundable deposit required within 24 hours of auction close.
