Maker i do not know, quality of horner but is not likely his work, is as well constructed and remains in that condition after 120 years of service. there are no loose or wobbly screws or holes. the hardware is all original and perfect. it has all original locks that are all tight and just like the day they were installed. it has the original keys and all the locks lock and work perfectly. when the door is shut there is not crack or room between the door and frame large enough to allow a razor blade to slide into. the same way with the drawers, drop front and top drawer which is spectacular and boast a serpentine curve. this piece is as solid and tight as any i have ever owned and the correctness and tightness would lead one ... moreto believe it was made yesterday. not really, they do not make stuff in this day and time that remotely compares to antique furniture. most secretary desks, there are some gaps in the bookcase door, usually wobbly hinges, drop front loose, drawers flopping here and there. you can shut most of them up but they have issues. anyway, construction is perfect, solid, quality material, and workmanship. who ever made it was a triple A firm. on the back there is a paper label that has spaces for the no. of the item, the finish, who did the cabinet work, filling, rubbing, polishing, trimming, and packing. these areas have been penciled in, but the wording has faded beyond ascertainment. there is also a label that has willick bros, muncating? somewhere. can't make that out either. the piece also has incised inventory numbers in the boards feature only used by the highest quality furniture makers. it also has stamped inventory nos. here and there. are you bored yet? now for the piece itself. so well done. pierced carved,very very well done griffins on each corner of the top crest. great solid tight sconce in the center held up by a wonderful turned column, all fitting perfectly and as

Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. There are three shelves on the upper bookcase with original glass door. It has four drawers below the drop off desk. It is in excellent condition. Everything in its original state. There is one key for the bookcase. This has been in my mother's home for as long as I can remember. There are no labels on the back. It does have a few tell tale features caused by the damp concrete that we want to declare. Even though they are no longer really an issue. The very bottom of the backboard has rippled plywood(see photo) when placed against the wall you will not see at all, and the very bottoms of the veneered sides were lifting and have been reglued. Because of this we are listing this secretary for about half its value. The secretary has original finish, original brass hardware. It has a really nice 8 1/2" tall turned finial on top of the traditional'broken arch' top. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

This is a very nice Chippendale style mahogany secretary desk. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural integrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden ... morevertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey. With flame mahogany fronts. The label inside the second drawer identifies it as part of the Beacon Hill Collection, made in the Boston area by Charak, well-known for their custom goods, and numbered, as their pieces normally are. It’s a quality breakfront, with beautiful four-mullioned individual glass pane doors on top, four drawers in center, and the top drawer flips down to become a butler’s desk. It has two large doors on each end, with drawers on top, which are all blind dovetail, another trademark of the company. It also has a high style cutout bracket foot base, banded doors, picture frame molded drawers, and just high quality all the way with a dentil notch molding on the top. The overall size is 55 inches wide, 14.5 inches on the outside bookcase sections and 17.5 inches in the center where the breakfront comes out, and 78 inches high. Buffalo NY Manufactured from 1890-1915 Clean Inside and Out/ Well Preserved Antique- Local Pick-up Only ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ We are offering one Antique Larkin Desk. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. This is a Vintage 1930's to 1940's Slanted Bureau Secretary Desk With Bookcase. Its in worn condition and needs to be refinished and has a lot of dings and scratches. It is beautiful with a slanted desk that pulls down and opens to a beautiful play for stationary. Etc. On top is a glass paneled curio cabinet/ bookcase. It has dove tail joints on the drawers. It has glue from tape that the previous owners used to move it. The drawers are very curvy and have beautiful original pulls. It has two original skeleton key holes for the desk and cabinets but no key and is not locked. it is now purely aesthetic but shows just how old the piece is. Love the compartments inside this 1920-1940 mahogany secretary desk bookcase! There are 3 shelves inside and the glass doors that have lovely fretwork. The 4 claw feet are vintage worn. The drawers form a really nice serpentine base. The drawers open and close easily and have their original hardware. The goose neck or swan neck arch pediment on top has a middle finial which we are re-attaching. When the desk is opened there are 6 sleeves. 3 serpentine drawers and one"secret compartment" behind the door in the middle. The outside of the drop down desktop is lighter in color than the rest of the piece and really adds a nice depth. The desk was loved and used; the wood is worn.
