I have for sale an antique Moulthrop school desk and chair. It was made in the early 1900's by Langslow Fowler. Which was a early manufacturer of Arts and Crafts furniture in Rochester. NY. They competed with Gustav Stickley. Stickly Brothers and Roycroft. It is made of oak and iron hardware. The chair has a drawer that slides open for books. There is a inkwell holder is attached to the metal brace on the side. The black metal brace has the name MOULTHROP stamped on the bottom. And it can be raised to adjust the desk height. Angle and depth(can slide forward and back) The seat height from the floor is 16.5" The desk can adjust height from 27.5" to 31.5" The desk depth can slide from 9.5" to 14.5" The size of the desk top is 12" by 16" This is a very solid well built. The woodwork and carvings on this one are just amazing. The back topper and finials are still on this one and look original. I see no pieces of wood missing on this great desk. Has a lock. But no key for it. The side areas by the hinged top and then above the two smaller back drawers have an inlay, not sure if metal or some other type of wood. Storage for fountain pens and inkwells built in top back of desk. There is also a second shelf area down by the feet that has inlay. The inside of the desk has a nice light colored exposed wood to it. There are two small drawers on the back top(one is missing its' hardware) and then a long drawer below the hinged top. Leather on top of desk is worn ... moreand up to you as to whether you wish to replaced. The metal rollers on this desk look appropriate to the piece. The front right leg is split near the bottom and will need repair. Hinges on top access are all in great shape. We are unsure of the age of this desk but looking at the construction we would estimate it was most likely made in the 1940s. The styling is American Revival. Here is a vintage 1920-30s oak drop front writing desk. It has the original dark oak finish as shown. The desk is 40 inches high by 29.5 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The desk has the original pigeon holes in the interior with one divider missing. The interior does show an ink stain on the right hand side. There is a small area of wear on the left side under the long drawer. The desk has its original key which does work but the lock does not stay in the locked position. The lock may need to be cleaned. Beautiful Antique Golden Oak Desk with Carvings & One Center Drawer
This is a very versatile piece of furniture that is a desk but may have many other uses. The carvings(feet and sides at corners photo#4) appear hand carved and the piece could very well be prior to 1900. But I listed it 1900+ to be sure. It is a solid wood throughout and in fairly good condition-VG. It measures on top at 45.5" W and 28"D. It can add a classic look to any room with its' great style and golden oak grained color. The desk top is 29" above the floor and comfortable to sit at. The center drawer is 22"W. The"paws" are all similar and are 3"X 3.5" see photo#3) There is a small dark blemish on the wood top on the left(see photo#2) that I began to remove but it is incomplete. The bottom shelf is of a nice sweeping shape and adds to the versatility. The center drawer appears to be a replacement( ... moredrawer. It needs gluing in the front where there is a few inch separation. But it is not a difficult clamping job at all. There is a light small separation on top of the front lid that could use a little gluing to make this lovely piece in VG+++ condition. Estate fresh! A fantastic vintage Gustav Stickley arts and crafts 729 drop front desk. Early 20th century made around 1909. Decent original finish with hammered copper pulls and complete pigeon hole gallery insert inside with key. Two over three drawers. Thru-tenon slab sides and pegged to the front lower stretcher also pegged in the front by the top. Condition is very good but the drop needs restoration. It has numerous chips in the veneer. Some roughness on the edges and front corner on the feet and edges but typical wear from something that's over one hundred years old. The pigeon hole gallery inside has some wear and the door is cracked and needs repair. Slight separation on the left slab side but very tight. No wobbles or looseness. Measurements are approximately 36.5" wide by about 15" deep and is 45" high. Signed ... morewith the red decal compass mark inside the right drawer. Up for auction is this beautiful wood Typewriter desk with convertible shelf and an Antique Underwood Typewriter. These two items came from my Grandmothers Estate. She used the typewriter clear up till around 1998ish because her handwriting was so shaky and her vision was not so good. Based on what the relatives think. We believe that she had acquired these items sometime in the 40's. May need cleaning and oiled. Hasn't been used in a long time. The desk is solid but it is appears to have UV Fading and some nicks and wear from being moved from one relatives home to another. Have its original handles. Has 6 drawers 2 of them have a wood divider for files. There is a pull out shelf on each side just above the drawers. Antique Tiger Oak Desk, curved drawer fronts, Unusual, Vintage, French maybe
Antique Tiger Oak Desk This beautiful desk has been sitting in storage for 30 years. It looks really old. But I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. The number 126 is impressed into the underside of the desk, but I have found no other marks on it. There are 5 drawers on one side. And 5 false drawer fronts on the other. As you can see in the photos, 4 of the 5 drawer fronts are curved, and the drawer joints are dovetailed. There are keyholes in the drawers(no keyholes on the false fronts, see photo#1) All 5 drawer locks are present, but I do not have the key. I’m sure that the drawer pulls are not the originals, since the pulls on two of the drawers cover up the keyholes. All 4 caster wheels roll well. The wood grain is amazing. But there are several condition issues. Two of the boards that make up the desk top have separated(have ... morecome unglued) and some crazy person(not me) drove a couple of headless nails into the boards to hold them in place. The nail heads are double-circled in yellow in the last photo. When I flipped the desk over, I saw the nails coming through an inch or so. It looks like it would not be too difficult to push them out from the underside. Also, something was spilled on the top, maybe ink. The stain is circled in yellow. The four inside corners of the desk are banged up, due to being struck repeatedly by a chair. A yellow arrow points to the most seriously damaged corner.
