The desk has a large amount of surface scratches on it, particularly ... moreon the top surface. I am unsure of its actual age. I would guess that it dates to the 1940’s or possibly a bit earlier. It has the original hardware on the drawers although some of the drawer pulls are missing parts of their swivel handles. The desk drawers pull in and out smoothly and have dovetail joints. There are some nice carved details to the front of the desk, but it will most certainly need to be refinished as there are a lot of scratches on it, and some stains inside the drawers as well. The desk is 30” tall, with the space for the chair being 21” high, and 17.5” wide. The desk is 48" long, and 18" wide front to back at most.

The secretary has a mirror, that is on the top at the right side and unbelievably gorgeous carved details and applied accents all throughout. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. The front door of the secretary that would open down as a writing service has been broken off, and in half horizontally, however, the hinges are intact and it could easily be repaired. This door is 14" top to bottom, 20" wide. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

This is a gorgeous vintage SOLID wood desk. Yes it is made of real wood. Not cheap pressed board. It was also, MADE IN THE USA. Super top quality by Taylor Made of Jamestown Ny Table Co. Dates from approximately the 1940's-50's. Nice large size. The top measures 48" wide x 24" deep. 29.5" high. Kneehole is 20.5" wide and 23.5" high. This has 8 drawers, four on one side, 3 on the other. One drawer is a double deep one. There is one center drawer, which has a lock, but alas, no key. All drawers are dovetailed. The drawers have vintage brass hardware, which has a nice patina. This appears to be original. There is a turned"rope" like decoration around the entire top of the desk. Finish is a brown/red color and is lovely. This is a fabulous piece of furniture, and a great decorative piece. A vintage Roll Top Desk made of Oak. Circa 1920. We are pleased to present this vintage Roll Top Desk for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood and dates to around the 1920's. The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. The height of the upper section is low enough to allow this piece to be placed in the open, and still offer a view behind the Desk. The back is finished, further assisting an open placement. Keys are included for the two major locks, but missing for the small compartment near the right side(see last picture) The Desk measures 43 inches high. 54 inches wide, and 30-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks on it to identify the manufacturer. The Desk can be disassembled ... moreinto several pieces, to ease the task of moving it and particularly to simplify the job of getting it through doorways. Wear is consistent with the age of the piece. Exterior surfaces look quite good with only a few areas of worn finish. The working surfaces including the two pull-outs show considerably more wear as would be expected on a well used piece of furniture. There is no serious damage or issues. And we rate the overall condition as very good. This is a charming example of the classic Oak Roll Top Desk. With the added flexibility of a finished back allowing it to be placed in the open, as well as against a wall. This box has been in my possession for at lea st 35 years. I purchased it at a large antique convention in our city and I remember seeing it and my breath was taken away. The beautiful design on the outside gives it a rich ness that words can't describe. The wood is warm and th e construction is flawless. There are a few small scratches if you examine with a magni fying glass. The origin al brass hinges remain sturd y. The key has always been missing and I have not tried to find a replacement. This is 12" long. 8" across and 3½" deep. The felt on the inside has been replaced and was done by the previous owner. I have noticed that some wri ting desks have bottles for ink. This one does not have the bottles but there is plenty of space for writing instruments of all sorts. The solid construction speaks for itself. Check ... moreout all the pictures. Vintage Antique Solid Wood School Desk With Flip Top
Desk is solid wood with original hardware. A few scuff marks of white paint on the side from moving but is otherwise in really great shape. There are some pencil doodles on the bottom of it from some student. This came from Georgia and I believe it is much older than the 1950s but don't know. Top easily opens up from the hinges on the back. Pick up only from the Delray Beach Florida area. Legs are slim and do look pretty modern to me. Would make a great side table or small desk for a child.
