Lovely Antique Child's Mug/Cup with Angels and Cherubs
This wonderful antique child's cup/mug measures approximately 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. It has three lovely scenes of angels and cherubs. The top rim and base has an embossed design. The top is scalloped and has a gold rim. Much of which has rubbed off as a result of use and age. Tthe handle is very decorative and ornate and still has a hint of the gold it was once decorated with. The mug is in wonderful condition for its age and has no chips, cracks or crazing. The tankard or flagon is generous in size and a wonderful classic shape. I has an"elf ear" shaped handle and a raised pedestal base. The tankard is coffee color. For auction is this wonderfully preserved very old porcelain mug with floral design both on the front and on the back. Gold gilt trimmed edge and handle. Cabbage roses and leaves surround the word FATHER which is lettered on the front in gold gilt. The main surface is of an iridescent swirly gloss. There are no chips or cracks, no staining, no crackling of the surface or inside. Extremely minor gold loss to rim, handle or lettering. The mug measures 3 1/2 inches tall, has a 3 3/4 inch diameter. They are dirty. The brown one has a tiny dip in the rim but it was caught before being done making it and someone put paint where the'dip' is. Look at pics. Up for bid is an antique mug/stein/tankard. It is yellow ware which you can tell my the bottom. It was identified on line as a piece from 1885 designed with embossed acanthus leaves. It was bought at an estate auction with several other pieces of stoneware. It is in immaculate condition but is crudely made with pops and straw lines. However the glaze is shiny with no crazing and there are no chips or cracks. It measures 5" by 3 1/4" Nice piece for a collection. Vintage Dark Brown Glazed Mug - 4 1/2" Tall - Double Marked
This auction is for a vintage mug that has an impressed marking on the lower front that appears to be a tree and it has a mark on the bottom that is possibly the makers signature mark. I'm not familiar with these markings and do not know the age of the mug. But it appears to be a hand made piece. The mug has a dark brown glaze and is approx. 4 1/2" tall. 3" wide at the opening and 4" at the widest point, not including the handle. There are no chips or cracks that I could find, but there is crazing in the glaze that shows much more with the flash than in normal lighting. This is in good condition with a few dents to the copper. Both to the body of the mug and to the base. It has a slight wobble when sitting on a flat surface and the top is uneven from when it was made. The handle has a few dents and bends, also from when it was made. The copper has some rubs and wear, and it's also oxidizing in areas where it's turning green, which is mostly toward the top edge and where the handle meets the cup. It measures 6 1/4" tall. English Staffordshire Sunderland Pink Lustre Creamware Frog Mug circa 1810 Polychromed Transferware ~ GOOD ALE INN ~ Scene with Two Riders ~ 4 5/8" high ~ 3 1/2" across the top A fine and rare mug or tankard with a turned foot and applied handle. Decorated with large dashes of pink lustre, the rim and bottom with lustre trim and the handle with a simple three leaf flower. The center has a black transfer print of a country scene with two gentlemen on horseback stopping at the'Good Ale' Inn; it's sign has three horseshoes above it. The innkeeper is pouring them a drink while their two dogs look on. The print has a fancy printed border and is carefully colored with yellow, green and brown enamels. This is the same theme as the dark blue transferware jug I have listed but not the same drawing. There are many differences ... moreto the scene but the elements are the same; the innkeeper pouring, the two men on horseback and the dogs. Inside the tankard is a very playful fat frog. Meant to scare the drinker as his ale goes down, he has big red eyes and painted with a mottled brown enamel. In excellent condition without any real damage save minor signs of age wear. Wear to the lustre at the rim etc. and no restorations or touch up. The inside has light spots of discoloration and the base has two very very faint small Y hairlines, see the pics, this is a lovely and interesting piece for any early collection. Thanks for looking! I have for you this evening a rare and unique porcelain item known as a mustache cup and made at the factories of Weimer in Germany around the turn of the twentieth century. This cup is made of very thin translucent porcelain with a clear glaze applied to the body. The upper and lower portions of the body have been painted powder blue with an interesting water drop motif. The center of the body is decorated with hand painted flowers with some inside as well. The piece is gilded onthe raised mold design and dusted with gold on the handle and inside mouthpiece. Very nice antique glazed pottery tumbler with applied scenes. early to mid 1800's era tumbler is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. Has a repeating scene of a pair of running dogs at the bottom(appears 3 times around the base) and three different scenes around the mid section. One is an old fashioned man in a chair at a desk. One is a windmill scene, and the other appears to be a charter oak tree. Tumbler measures 4 1/4 inches tall, 3 1/8 inches in diameter at the top, 2 3/8 inches in diameter at the bottom. I tried to get a pic of the potter's mark on the bottom but can't seem to outsmart my camera. It is a very small circle of triangles with the points in the middle of it. Toby Mug Irish Gentleman Face Rosy Cheeked Smiling Green Large
Up for sale is this Toby Mug ceramic Figurine. Which is the face of an Irish gentleman with rosy cheeks and a big smile, chubby face with a green hat and collar. There are initials on the bottom of the mug M.E.R. with a cross under the initials, and I do not know what they stand for. There are two cracks on the bottom that were glued. And there is a small stain on the face which you can see in the photo& I think it can be washed off but I don't want to try to remove it myself as it might damage the finish. Antique Red Clay Stoneware Stein Tankard Cobalt Decoration Possibly Delft
Old Red Clay Stoneware Mug Hand Turned. This has a cobalt blue decoration with a cream color or tannish glaze. Stein stands 6 1/4" tall and measures 3 3/4" across the top. The bottom is unmarked. I contacted a stoneware site and they think its possibly Delft. The inside bottom of the mug looks to have a crack in the glaze. I don't think it is in the mug itself. There is a glaze chip in the center of the design. On the blue band around the bottom of the mug and a small glaze chip on one of the blue dots going around the rim. I do not see any other damage. These English mugs show off the beauty of the craftsmanship and humor of the English. This particular mug was made for a child. Commerative dating of 1879; a birth, and where. Staffordshire village, Newcastle on the Tyne(river) Now.the mug. Size and Condition: The mug is 4 1/2" high and 4 1/2" in diameter. There are no cracks or repairs. However on the bottom when it is sitting(and if you put your head down to look at the bottom rim) you will see a few small spaces. These spaces. Even though small at the bottom of the rim are actually little chips on the bottom at the edges ... moreand can only be seen when you turn the mug upside down. On the inside there is a very small and not noticable unless you look for it, a little round flake off the side. Again, you have to look for it. They do not take away from the mug structurally or aesthetically, and hardly noticable from the view of looking at the mug. The blue glaze is vivid and lovely. Please see the pictures of the bottom of the mug too, so you understand what I am saying. It is sometimes hard to explain, but I try hard to mention everything. Remember.it is an antique 133 years old and not broken. The outside of the mug has beautiful Sprig painting. All original and intact, nice and vivid. Insides is a great blue color. The inscription on the outside is written in Old English and gives the child's name and birth date. The froggy on the inside is doggone CUTE and in good condition. I don't see anything wrong with him and what adorable eyes. This mug is a collector's dream and they are as rare as hen's teeth.
