Exceptional and RARE antique CAC(the Ceramic Art Company which predates Lenox) American Belleek porcelain tall mug(or tankard) with beautiful enamel JEWELED ... moreand gilt decoration. Circa 1889-1906. This mug is 5 7/8” tall and is marked on the underside of the base with a printed purple CAC mark. The cream-colored porcelain body is heavily decorated on the top portion of the mug with raised jewel-like enamel dots in rose. Mauve, pink, blue and turquoise colors, interspersed with intricate gilding. A similar band of decoration occurs along the bottom of the mug. The handle and bottom edge are heavily gilt. The exterior is domantly green and gold, with iridescent glaze, with a 1-5/8" wide, gold band decorated with flowers and leaves. The interior is lilac colored. It is marked on the base, with the Ceramic Art Company trademark, used 1898-1906. It is artist signed, Mary J. Coulter, 1903" No chips. Cracks, or other damage. Antique American Belleek Hand Painted Cherries Tankard Mug Stein - Needs Repair
This beauty has met a tragic circumstance but I cannot bear to see it gone forever- someone must love this as much as I do and would love to have it grace their collection of American Belleek. There is a crack through the entire height of the tankard near the handle. I have made no attempts to repair- study my pictures as I have tried to capture it the best I can. Other than this defect the mug is great shape with no other chips or cracks. Approx. dims are 5.75"high 3"opening diameter and 4"base diameter.

Ceramic Art Company American Belleek Tankard/Mug ca. 1894-1906 5" tall. Signed"Andrews" Ceramic Art Company of Trenton. New Jersey, was established in 1889 by Jonathan Coxon and Walter Lenox and was an early producer of American Belleek porcelain. It became Lenox, Inc. in 1906. The Ceramic Art Company, which operated under this name from 1889 to 1906, was an early incarnation of the present-day Lenox Company. According to one source, Walter Scott Lenox left the Willets Manufacturing Company in 1889 and went into partnership with Jonathan Coxon, superintendent of Ott& Brewer, another Trenton pottery. Together they founded the Ceramic Art Company(CAC) of Trenton. Their partnership lasted until the spring of 1896, when Coxon sold his interest to Lenox.
