"FOR MY DEAR GIRL" CIRCA 1835 CHILD / CHILDREN'S MUG - REWARD OF MERIT RELATED
For more than fifty years I have been acquiring and collecting antiques of all types. Whatever really appealed to me at that particular time in my collecting career. While I continue to collect in several different areas today, it's time for me to disperse all those items which I no longer agressively pursue. So I am selling my accumulation of antique items in numerous categories and of vastly varying values, all acquired by me at sometime in the past and going as far back as the late 1950's. So please bookmark me, or save me as an ebay search, as just about anything is apt to appear in my future listings. CHILD'S- CHILDREN'S MUG C irca 1830-35"FOR MY DEAR GIRL" SILVER LUSTRE STAFFORDSHIRE jd609mmn From my personal children's reward of merit collection is this pearlware child's gift/ reward mug from the Staffordshire ... moreregion that displays a tooled-type body design. It dates from 1830-1835 and has a silver lustre transfer entitled"For My Dear Girl" and it also has a silver lustre rim. I would term this mug in perfect condition with only the most minor rubs expected from a nearly 200 year old ceramic item. The diameter is 2 1/2" 63mm) and the height is 2 1/2" 63mm) Thanks for looking Please pay for your winning bid within three days of the auction ending. I will ship withing one business day of receipt of your PayPal payment. You may return any item to me within fourteen days of receipt provided that you email me within three days of receipt indicating that you will be returning it to me. Surrounding the transfers on both sides are broad bands of red enamel that are more often dome in Sunderland luster. The sailor is saying goodbye to his wife and two children and is no doubt being taken out to the three masted ship by the rowboat on shore. The handle is a reeded design and other than a chip on the base rim that you cann see inthe scans. It is otherwise perfect. "A Present for my dear Boy"- Circa 1810 - Child/Children's Mug - Merit Reward
A Present for my dear Boy" Circa 1810 Child/Children's Mug Reward of Merit Related Pearlware Staffordshire From my personal children's reward of merit collection is this pearlware child's gift/ reward mug from the Staffordshire region which displays two children's scenes. It dates from circa 1810. Is in the desirable small size, and has a transfer entitled"A Present for my dear Boy" This mug would be in perfect condition save for a small old repair to a small tiny inside the rim chip. Which was caused by a little one's tooth. Review the close-up photos to see the repair area. While it does not affect the appearance of the mug whatsoever, and is barely noticed, it could easily be repaired better today by a current restorer as to make the repaired area entirely disappear. It remains a very desirable mug that ... morehas survived 200 years. CHILDREN'S MUGS of the 19th century are interesting to present-day collectors. There are many types of mugs. From those with cheap transfer prints and rhymes and jingles, which are collected as a relic of a passing day rather than for any beauty they may possess, to the fine early decorated creamware mugs of Leeds, Bristol, and Liverpool, as well as a variety in lusterware. The subject matter ranges from early scenes to those of the Kate Greenaway period. ... moreOf the twelve hundred mugs in the collection of Margaret H. Jewell, which is on display at the Harrison Gray Otis House in Boston, there is hardly a duplicate and there are enough mugs of each type to make the study of the subject complete. Among the earliest types of children's mugs are the creamware mugs decorated with bands of blue. Brown, tan, olive green or gilt. Buyer pays $9.80 shipping in the continental U.S.A. JPL LIMOGES PORCELAIN BEER MUG / TANKARD HAND PAINTED PLUMS, CIRCA 1900
Normal 0 0 1 238 1357 11 2 1666 11.1282 0 0 0 This beautiful hand painted porcelain beer mug or tankard dates to the early 1900s. The decoration—a lush display of ripe plums and foliage on a tree—is painted with rich colors: olive and grass green. Teal, smoky blue, purple, magenta, and tan on a background of aqua and cream. The plums and leaves look very three dimensional and almost jump off the side of the mug. I’ve looked but cannot find an artist’s signature. Note how the handle has been charmingly sculpted to resemble a twig. The beer mug measures 5 inches tall and about 4 inches across the base. Which spreads out a little as you can see in the photos. The opening at the top is a little under 3 inches across. The mug is in very good condition with no nicks or flakes to the painted image, and the gilt rim at the top is also in fine condition. ... moreThe little spots on the back of the handle appear to be tiny flecks of gilt or paint. There is a very thin scratch on the plum farthest to the right, which is barely visible to the naked eye. Under magnification I also see several tiny spots of white on the dark green base, which may be from wear(although it seems an odd place for wear) or perhaps from the way the paint was applied. All these flaws are consistent with the mug’s age and do not detract from the appearance of the mug; I mention them only for accuracy. This is truly a striking display piece. Please look at all the photos which are intended to complement my description. On the bottom is the JPL/ France mark. JPL was the mark of the Pouyat Porcelain family. Who manufactured porcelain at the Jean Pouyat porcelain factory in Limoges, France, for decades. Pouyat porcelain was known for its fine texture.
