POTTERY WORKS WARRANTED. manfacturer of American ironstone china in Trenton New Jersey from 1875 to 1880 This is an Original 1875- 1880 Mug made by the World Famous Early American Potter. Isaac Davis, during a time when he was in business without partner in Trenton, NJ. During this time, in his employ was the very young 16 to 20 year old Lenox who was learning how to become a designer under Isaac ... moreDavis' supervision, who moved him up from the decorating department to the design department. At the age of 16 Lenox offered Isaac Davis a year of free service in exchange for teaching him the pottery trade. After the years end, Davis offered Lenox a excellent salary and full time position at the Trenton Pottery Company. According to the book Marks of American Potters by Edwin Atlee Barber, the ULTRA-RARE markings on this wonderful mug date it to a period when Isaac Davis had just bought The Prospect Hill Pottery in Trenton, NJ and was in business alone from 1875 to 1880 and had displayed as an important exhibitionist for white graniteware at the Centennial Convention in Philadelphia in 1876. The hallmark on this mug is the British Arms with full markings around the oval shield border with forward facing large faced Lion on left and Unicorn profile on right. The monogram in the center of the hallmark shield is ID intersected, for Isaac Davis. The writing under the British Arms design is"T. Pottery Works, Warranted, which stands for Trenton Pottery Works. Old Antique Pottery Brown Stein or Mug Unusual Rare Design
This auction is for a old pottery mug or stein that has been in the family for many years. I do not know the age but it looks to be from the early 1900's but I am not sure. There is no maker mark that I cam find. Part of the bottom is finished and looks like there maybe be a mark under the glaze but I can't make it out. The design on the sides is very unusual. Leaves maybe? The clay looks to be a light orange. The size of the stein is approx. 4 3/4" tall and 3 1/4" across the top rim. The condition is very good for the age. There are no chips. Cracks, or repairs. Thank you for looking and Have A Great Day!

Rare EARTHWORM MOCHAWARE English MUG w/ PEWTER LID Dated 1862 PEARLWARE
Just purchased at a sale this morning.it is a SHELF PIECE. But what a beauty. The colors are so vibrant! Very Large! The earthworm design on this Mochaware is rarer than the others and the mug itself with the pewter lid has no cracks or chips or hairlines, just lots and lots of crazing from age. The handle has been repaired, quite badly, in a number of places, so this piece is being sold in AS FOUND condition. Please email if you require any additional info.I will be happy to answer any questions you have. The measurements are 4 1/4" diameter(just over) and 8 1/4" high INCLUDING finial. There is discoloration along the bottom and I believe most of that is glue residue from the repair of the handle. Other discoloration found, totally appropriate to age and use. As stated, this is a wonderful shelf piece, being sold with damage. Dated ... more1862. If Mint, we all know it would be well over $1,000. Have the handle fixed! Rare Early Pearlware Childs Mug My Grandmother Pictorial Verse Begging Dog 1810
Early Pearlware Child’s Mug MY GRANDMOTHER Staffordshire. England c. 1810 Dating to the early 19th century. This childs mug stands 2 3/4" tall and measures 2 1/2" across the top rim. Transfer printed in brilliant cobalt blue not flow blue but in the same color range. Outlined by hand along the inside rim, the handle is decorated with a brushstroke arrow. The mug has a turned base and is finished with pearlware glaze. The perimeter of the mug is encircled with an illustrated verse. Originally printed in copperplate engravings from a child's primer used to instruct children on the joys of family with poems from sisters Ann and Jane Taylor. The endearing image depicts a little girl sitting on her grandmother’s lap and reaching out to feed a begging dog. The sweeping engraved image(source print as of yet undiscovered) of the dog-loving ... moregrandma and her little granddaughter is accompanied by the sweet and sentimental poem which reads: Who turned aside her aged head. And even tears of gladness shed. Because I gave the beggar bread. MY GRANDMOTHER. As with most early childrens wares of this period. The mug is unmarked and unattributed. It most likely hails from Staffordshire or one of the northern potting regions of England c. 1800-1810. It was sold to us as possibly having been made by Rogers. ANTIQUE TRANSFERWARE MUG S.F. & CO. - LATTICE - Early to Mid 1800's -RARE
Very Rare Transfer Ware S.F. Co. Mug Lattice Markings on the bottom: IV 22 30) R(K K Fine hairline crack. From Jewitt's'Ceramic Art of Great Britain 1800-1900' first published 1878: Railway Pottery Established by S. Fielding& Co. in Sutherland Street in 1870 for the manufacture of majolica. Terra-cotta, jet, Rockingham, green- glaze goods and general earthenware, in all of which the usual useful, ornamental, and fancy articles were made. This firm introduced in the early 1880s a new feature in majolica goods, which they named'Majolica argenta' in which they produced a vast variety of articles of a remarkably taking, pleasing and useful character. This, as its name implied, consisted of a white body and glaze with the proper majolica colouring liberally and judiciously used either on the body or on the embossed decorations. ... moreThe effect was extremely pleasing. Some of the more popular and artistic patterns were'Shell and Net' Ribbon and Leaf' Daisy' and'Fan' and in each of these, the idea of the pattern was fully carried out on an infinite variety of articles, ranging from large ice-dishes and bread-trays to cups and saucers and al1 the minutiae of the table. One of the distinctive features of the majolica produced by Messrs. Fielding& Co. was the masterly and effective way in which they introduced. On some of their best pieces, hand- modelled flowers and foliage. Modelled and coloured true to nature in every minute detail, and thrown in graceful negligence around the bodies of the vases, they became such perfect reproductions that it was difficult to divest the mind of the idea that the roses were not fresh gathered from the tree and temporarily twined around the vase for its adornment. In addition to majolica. Which had been their staple trade, Messrs. Fielding& Co. extended their works. In about 1880, by adding the manufacture of a good quality of earthenware, in which they produced all the usual services and other articles. Among the novelties in toilet-set

For some reason the Ebay U.K. site filters from view the posting of sales by U.S. sellers containing the names of some of the better and more highly collectable English and German porcelain companies. I have no idea why this is. However, I do ship worldwide so you are welcome to bid on any of the items. IMPORTANT BIDDING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION: IF YOU PLAN TO BID ON THIS ITEM AND ARE THE HIGH BIDDER I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU DO NOT PAY ME UNTIL YOU RECEIVE MY ... moreINVOICE NOT THE INVOICE THAT IS GENERATED IMMEDIATELY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SALE BY EBAY. Ebay now has rules that all sellers MUST ship items for which they have been paid within one business day without exception. Those who follow my sales and have bought from me over the years know that I have always had a policy of shipping within 24 hours of a sale(see my feedback) However, there are times when I am out of town unexpectedly for a house call, an auction or an estate call and it simply is not possible to get to the post office in time. Also, if you find that there is more than one item you are interested in bidding on over a given time period and would like to take advantage of combined shipping, please again, DO NOT pay me until the last of those items you're watching has finished. I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping fee which saves on postage. I never charge a"handling fee" I would rather wait a few days on a payment and extend you the advantage of lower shipping fees than to be paid immediately- not ship- and then be scored negatively by eBay for not shipping soon enough. ANTIQUE UPW UNION PORCELAIN WORKS HP SHAVING MUG CUP 1800s EXTREMELY RARE!
Welcome to the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts! Enjoy our textile selections from the heart of New England. Created long ago in the mill towns of the Valley or brought here by families from around the world. Here you will find these and other beautiful and useful things they couldn't do without. VERY RARE UPW MARKED MUG. FABULOUS! For those unfamiliar with the Union Porcelain Works. Here is a museum-worthy example, a shaving mug the likes of which cannot even be compared to others because there are virtually none to be found. The UPW company existed in Greenpoint, N.Y. from the middle 1800s to the early 1900s. Its museum is in Brooklyn on Eastern Parkway. The mug is a true collector's item. This piece was likely made for shaving since it has been personalized with the name Joseph White in gold. The porcelain is heavy ... moreand generously decorated. Seems to be hard paste, still rings when tapped. Hand painted beautiful roses and other flowers and leaves decorate the outside done in the style of Sevres, Meissen, and other high end producers of the era. Mark is pictured on the bottom and there is an impressed number 1 also there, no other markings. Condition, except for significant wear to the gold, is excellent. Mug is a suitable size for use, measures about 3 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" across the top. INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC SHIPPING Domestic shipping will be first class or priority. Some items shipped free. Toby Mug - Irish Gentleman Face, Rosy Cheeked Smiling Green Large - RARE!
Up for sale is this Toby Mug ceramic Figurine. Which is the face of an Irish gentleman with rosy cheeks and a big smile, chubby face with a green hat and collar. There are initials on the bottom of the mug M.E.R. with a cross under the initials, and I do not know what they stand for. There are two cracks on the bottom that were glued. And there is a small stain on the face which you can see in the photo& I think it can be washed off but I don't want to try to remove it myself as it might damage the finish. c1840 RARE English Masonic Masons Coffee Can, Symbols, Hand Painted, Large Mug
This is a very old large mug or tankard. Or maybe even a coffee can. It has a series of what I believe to be Masonic symbols around the central scene. The center has color added by hand to the orange transfer print. It could be as early as 1820 and is certainly English. It is 3" tall and 3& 1/4" across the top. It has a crowfoot crack on the inside where the handle joins the cup and a tight hairline about half way around. There are no marks on the bottom as to who made the piece. I think that it may be a rare piece of Masonic history!

Rare Unusual Ugly Antique Miniature Mug Cup Rustic Silver Metallic Black Forest?
This little mug measures just 2&1/2" tall and 2&1/2" in diameter. I purchased it at an estate auction along with some antique ceramics from 19th-century Germany. But I'm just guessing that this might be also-I haven't been able to find another example. It's unusual and may be someone's cup of tea. It might even be rare and valuable, so it might be a good idea to take advantage of my ignorance. The cup/mug is in very good condition. With only minor wear to the glaze and no chips or cracks. There is light scratching visible on the glossy interior glaze.

Description This rare piece of Peoria Pottery is a stoneware mug or tankard which stands 4 3/4" tall. 3 1/4" in diameter. It is tan in color and has two shades of brown decoration along the top and bottom rims and on the handle. The decoration is a scrolling leaf design and is enhanced with gold tracery. The center section features 8 Palmer Cox Brownies, four pair. Each of them is dressed in a unique fashion-a bobby with a billy club, a professorial type with tails and a top hat, etc. They are all painted in brown with lighter brown grass and shadows. All of the decoration is hand painted, not a transfer. The piece is stamped"Peoria Pottery" on the base(light but readable) and has no artist signature. The mug is in fine antique condition. There are a few glaze cracks but no cracks or chips in the pottery and there is no ... morewear on the decoration. This is a wonderful old piece of pottery from the 1890's and would be a fabulous addition to any number of collections. Thanks for looking.
