Antique Imperial German Army Porcelain & Pewter Tankard
Antique German Imperial Army Porcelain commemorative stein. This is a classic stein which came from the estate of a WWII Colonel's collection. The stein measures 10" tall to pewter soldier finial and is 1.5 litre. The base is 4 1/2" in diameter 5 1/2" base to handle. The piece is beautifully hand painted. The bottom of the stein is incorporated with a lithophane romantic scene with a soldier and his fraulein. The lithophane has a spider vein crack which is tight but noticeable when held to the light. There has been a repair to the pewter lid at the hinge it is a clean decent solid job refer to photos. We had our Master German Goldsmith translate the tankard for us. The tankard is prior to WWI. The tankard was presented to Grenadier Schwarz of the 2nd battalion under Kaiser Wilhelm. There are the names of 62 soldiers on ... moretwo sides of the tankard. This lovely mug stands some 4 7/8 inches tall. The handle is blue. As are the 2 pairs of bands, which have a vertical ridge design in between the bands of both pairs. The base is marked"B&D No. 2" Not marked as such, but a similar- but later- one also has a"Germany" mark, so this one is also German. There is a stain on the inside bottom. A Swiss. Or possibly German, porcelain beer stein, with pewter lid and thumbpiece, dating to the late 19th or early 20th Century. There is a painted and printed panel on the front, titled above"Tellscapelle" This is a small chapel, by Lake Lucerne, associated with the legend of the Swiss hero William Tell. Measuring 8.5" to the top of the thumbpiece and holding half a litre. The rim of the pewter lid is a little uneven but otherwise in perfect condition.

This is a very unique vintage German Puzzle Stein Tankard. Its large and made of fine porcelain. Crafty puzzle stein that you need to know the trick to drink from it without spilling your beer. Also has a Lithopane in the bottom of a gorgeous 1940s nude stripper lady with a large feather. This piece is in mint condition. No chips, cracks or damage of any kind. It holds over 4 cups of beverage up to the holes in side. Has tree branch and leaves design with raised ripple sides on it. Handle is shaped like a branch. The top outer edge is also shaped as branch and there are 5 different holes placed all around the top. One of the holes you can drink out of without getting wet, if you know how! Trick is as shown in photos. There is a hole under the upper part of handle. Put you finger on it as you hold your beer, then you can drink out of the hole ... morenext to handle as shown. Inside bottom of the tankard is a large hole too, your beverage goes into hole, up through intricate design to be drank without spilling! This is the last of my German Steins. I have been told that this would be referred to as an"Occupational Stein" and that would certainly make sense. As the hand-painted porcelain lid depicts a farmer hard at work in the fields with his team of horses. The inscription on the lid is seemingly in an old German script, so I was having difficulties translating it. However, a very helpful German eBayer was nice enough to help me out. Basically it translates as"God Bless Hard Work/Diligence" The painted scene is most attractive. Lovely colours. Paint is still bright and vivid. There is some slight wear to the pewter on the lid. This is an antique German mug in pristine condition with no cracks. Chips, or crazing. It measures 3" in diameter and 3 3/4" wide overall including handle. It stands 3" tall. It has a little"spatter" type paint detail as the color transitions from the the top and bottom into a creamy white middle. The bottom reads"Germany 204" I imagine the bull riding a bicycle and the donkey mean something but I'm not familiar with the characters or possible story behind the characters. Unusual Antique German Procelain Puzzle Jug Puzzle jugs or steins are a puzzle. Styled as a jug. They challenge the drinker to drink the contents without spilling. A straw is hidden in the body of the jug. It winds through the handle and sides of the jug and has several false openings, requiring the drinker to cover those holes in order to successfully drink the contents. This piece is a nice example in German porcelain. it measures 4" high x 2 3/4" in diameter and has a branch-like rim ringing the top edge. With a blue design resembling an ocean and floral accents on the creamy off-white background. As you can see, several holes surround the piece, disguising the solution to the puzzle. Two German Steins. Old German sayings. The first stein says: Giebt froblimu Muth u kraft. The main picture depitcts a mandolin player with another gentlemen crouching with a mug in his hand. The other side says: Ein Liedbie edlem Sati. The second mug says: Viel besser frahet jeder bakr. The scene shows two gnomes drinking mugs of beer under a toadstool. The other side reads: Wenner die kehle feuchtet an. The colors are vibrant and deep. I could not find any cracks or chips. One of the pewter tops needs to be resoldered; there is a spot that is yellowed due to glue on the underside of the broken top. The tip of this pewter top is broken. See pictures. It is marked on the outside Ausberg 1906, obviously a commerative piece. Unfortunately it has a crack near the top going into the opening right by the date and down the side. The crack could very well be repaired by a pro and I believe this one is worth doing that. When you hold the stein up to the light, see the picture that one sees when drinking or looking ... moreinto the stein. The stein bottom has a soldier, I suppose saying goodbye to his sweetheart. The rest of the stein is fine except that doggone crack, but it still is a really neat stein. Consider this one a great look on your mantle, and pay for the second one which is in good shape. If this was in good condition, I would research them and sell separate, but as is.it merely is a throw in, but sure neat looking. Now.second stein. It is a teal greenish blue with lots of pretty gilt. It is in good condition. No chips, no cracks,etc. Has alot of German writing on the bottom, and I don't speak German. It is 9 inches tall. Antique German BEER Stein THE NEIGHBOR'S CLUB MUNICH Reinhold Merkelbach LIDDED
Antique Lidded Stein. The Neighbor's Club, Munich, Reinhold Merkelbach, 1882-1933" Up for auction is an antique beer stein with beautifully molded trim and hand-painted with the scrolling words"The Neighbor's Club. Munich" Lidded with a nice pewter(I think that's the metal) lidded design and trimmed with banded molded designs in dark blue, brown, and lighter blue along the handle. Volume mark near the lip 0.25 L and impressed with the maker's mark on the base: RM in a six-point brewer's star and the number 572, for brewer Reinhold Merkelbach. This Merkelbach mark dates from 1882 to 1933. The stein measures 6 1/2 inches tall(to the very top of the lid decoration) and 3 1/4 inches across the base. Very good to excellent condition, with some light scuffing on the base(shows a red body paste) no chips or cracks, ... morelid hinge works great(dark stain came off with a quick wipe down) This is an excellent antique stein and will make for a wonderful addition to any collection! Offered in this auction are two antique mugs. One is a mustache mug with the mouth piece to protect the gentleman's mustache when drinking. Both are signed Germany on the bottom. These are both in very good condition. The one shaving mug with flowers does have a small spider hairline on the bottom and a flaw to the handle. I try to show you this in my photos. The other mustache mug does have some minor fading to the color. Which you should be able to see. If you collect these, you will know that you would expect to pay much more than my opening bid for just the one mustache mug. However, I am trying to clean out my cabinets so hope to pass along to another collector! Antique German Mug "I'm not Greedy but I like a lot"
Antique porcelain shaving mug was made in Germany and is in very good condition. White porcelain is printed in green fancy calligraphy, I am not greedy but I like a lot" There is the image of a smiling fat. Bald man on the side. Most of the gold rim around the mug is gone; only one very small section remains. The gold accent on the handle is in tact. There are two areas of very slight discoloration inside of the mug.
