Welcome to Annsys Place! Here is a wonderful highly desirable White Ironstone Tea Leaf Mug. This mug was made by Anthony Shaw in the 1860's in England and is in the Lily Of The Valley Pattern. It measures approximately 3 1/2 inches in height and is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. There are no cracks or chips on this piece. For accuracy. There is minor wear of the lustre rim decoration on each side, this is pictured for you and is obviously caused by usage so many years ago. There is also a small spot on the inside rim which appears to be a flake of the glaze possibly caused in the making of this piece. None of these are a detriment to the beauty and rarity of this mug. This mug was produced 1875-1880 by Issac Davis This was produced prior to the introduction of Prospect Hill Pottery This makers mark is early while Issac Davis was in business for himself. This mark includes the British coat of arms with a capital I and D through the crest. This was kept on a shelf for 75 years and in storage for about 20. This cup wasn't a utilitarian piece in the time its been in my family. This mug is granite ware with blue and gold banding. The blue is more periwinkle then navy. Probably of English or German origin, but is totally unmarked, so hard to say. Dates to the second half of the 19th century. Set of FOUR bright white ironstone mugs. These could be beer steins. They are very heavy and stable at 26.25 ounces EA. The bases are flared as shown adding to the heft and stability Each mug is 5-1/4" tall. The base is 4-1/2" across. And from edge to outside edge of the handle is approximately 6" Only two have the remains of a green mark which is nearly gone and entirely undecipherable- at least to me. Could be German or English but definitely high quality. You can tell by the heft. The design and glaze. No chips, no crazing no flaws of any kind noted. Classic cut handles. Firing hole under the top of the handle as shown. Very classic looking. The pictures are a good representation of the quality and condition but they show much better live.

The mug has a scalloped rim and figural handle and it features a floral pattern with a central basket. The details are hand-painted and overall the mug stands about 3 3/4" tall. Item Condition: The overall condition of the mug is very good. It is extremely clean and I see no chips. Cracks, or repaired areas except for a single 1 1/2" hairline off the rim as shown in the third picture. The painted details are bold with nice color and minimal loss. The pattern is Washington Shape which is a beautiful and delicate pattern with the flowers and leaves wrapping around the body beginning at the juncture of the handle. There is a cable design which encircles the base of the mug and the handle is dramatically shaped, I do not find any cracks, chips or crazing on this piece. It measures approximately 3 1/4 inches in height and 3 1/4 inches in diameter across the base. There is a mark on the bottom which is pictured for you. Welcome to Annsys Place! Here is a White Ironstone Mug which was made by J. W. Pankhurst& Co. of Hanley. England who worked around the period of 1850 to 1854. This mug stands approximately 3 1/2 inches in height and is approximately 3 1/2 inches in width across the bottom. This mug is in excellent condition with No cracks, chips, staining or crazing. The other mug is not marked by the maker and maybe white ironstone or a heavy china. It has a slightly more yellowish cast to the china. It has a great unusual angel handle which is done in relief and has some slight gilt accents. The wings and the feet of the angel go back and attach to the body of the mug. This mug also is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips, possibly a small flake on the underside bottom rim which is mentioned for accuracy. It does not in anyway interfere with ... morethe appearance of this fascinating mug probably was in the making. This mug is slightly smaller than the Pankhurst measuring approximately 3 1/4 inches in height and diameter.
