RARE! Antique old 19th c BILLIARD PARLOUR OCCUPATIONAL porcelain Shaving MUG
This wonderful shaving mug was decorated by August Kern Barber Supply. St. Louis per the fired stamp on the underside. It originally belonged to J. W. Banfield who was obviously quite the billiards player. This mug has a lot of fine detail. The gilding on the upper and lower rims. The name and decorating is all original bright gold. There is some wear from use where his thumb rested at the top of the handle and rim as is expected from a vintage treasure like this. The fracture on the bottom is under the glaze and was done during firing. The photo with the shaving brush is for scale and is not included in this auction. Measures: 4" x 3 1/2" Condition: No chips or cracks. Fine vintage collectible!

Teamster Occupational Shaving Mug E. K. Stone 2 Horses Pulling Freight Wagon
This occupational shaving shows a teamster driving a freight wagon pulled by 2 horses. It is nice condition but has wear to the gold on the handle and along some of the bottom. There are a few cracks in the glaze on the bottom rim under the handle. Other than that. The painting is very nice and quite well painted. The name looks like E. K. Stone but not 100% sure of that. Antique Occupational Shaving Mug Barber Shop Quartet
This is a really nice example of an antique or vintage shaving mug. Not sure if it’s an occupational mug, but it looks like one for a member of a barber shop quartet. The mug is hand painted and depicts four men singing, with musical notes above them. This is a really nice early shaving mug, it has a nice double C handle, Beehive style pedestal base with gold gilt trim and a large bulbous mug body. Contained within the base is a small ceramic bell. A great vintage occupational shaving mug for a barber Shop Quartet. This mug is not mark, but I would say it’s from the early 20th century by the style of the clothes and hair of the quartet. Size: 5” high Condition: Mint condition. AS I UNDERSTAND IT MR BLAIR WAS THE ARTIST PINSTRIPER FOR DECORATING THE BUGGIES. THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS ON THIS BUT AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS THE LETTERING HAS BECOME A LITTLE WEAK. BELOW IS INFORMATION THAT I GOT FROM THE MIFFLINBURG BUGGY WORKS MUSEUM HOME PAGE O n a Mifflinburg Telegraph article dated Feb. 9. 1881 its author, George Sloch stated that 597 sleighs had been built in one month and queried, Is there a town in the state the size of Mifflinburg that has a better record? From 1850-1920 the town was home to 75 or so vehicle manufacturers, ... moreand it’s been called“Buggy Town” ever since the early 1880s. Near the end of the century it became obvious to three of Mifflinburg’s leading builders. Alfred A. Hopp, Harry F. Blair and Robert S. Gutelius, that unless they adopted modern techniques of mass production, they would be soon be out of business. The trio formed the Mifflinburg Buggy Co. in 1897, at the former carriage works of Thomas Gutelius, Robert’s uncle. Harry F. Blair had not only worked in his family’s shop. But had recently been a salesman for the Lawrence Paint and Varnish Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Robert S.
