There is a name and year written on the bottom of the desk, but it is very faint and can only be seen while hold the desk at a certain angle to the light. I tried to capture the writing in a picture, but could only get the first part of the name. The name stands out the most. The rest of the writing, I believe would be where the owner lived and the year is much fainter. It looks like Maggie C Farr(something) something) 1876 or 1896. The box measures about 11 ¼” x 7 3/4” x 3 ½” closed) Opened and lying flat the desk measures about 16” long. The inside bottom felt writing surface that lifts up is tight and strong while the top felt writing surface that lifts up is wiggly, but still very much intact. Very nice old lap desk. Beautiful old desk with chair. In good vintage condition; the desk has some marks and the name Lynne in old style writing on it. The metal shows some rust. The wood connection at the back of the desk has slightly come undone as the wood seems to have moved a bit with age. However this does not affect the usability of the item and it is otherwise in good sturdy conditon. The lit of the desk can be moved to access the storage space underneath. Cash drawer, and its combination lock are. The cash drawer does open but we do not know the combination. The station measures 63" wide, 20" deep in the body and 31" deep overall, 69" tall, and believed to be made of oak and pine. The window portion comes apart from the bottom and slides onto pegs keeping it in place. Vintage Antique Old Wooden Desk One Room School House Tennessee Lovely Patina
Purchased many years ago by the current owner for a larger home than the bungalow* she now resides in. The owner of the store where she purchased it from had tagged it as about 100 years old from a one room schoolhouse in Tennessee. The photos say it best. I have included with and without flash photos so you can see its the hues in different lights. The patina is eye candy, and the strong grain stands smooth and proud with the natural sheen from decades of books sliding back and forth across it. The desk stands tight and level and is in superb original condition with all the original wood pieces, screws and hardware, including the desk latch/lock-simple yet efficient. The only non-original item is a small well done wood brace that you have to stick your head inside the desk and look up to find. The brace has brass round-head screws which ... moresuggests a post-war repair since flat-head iron screws are more common from pre-war construction and this type of fastening is what is used in the desk. It is approximately 21" inches wide and 20" deep, it stands 27" tall in front and 31" tall in back, the bottom shelf is 8" x 21" the inside of the desk storage area is 19" wide and 17" front to back and varies from 4" to 6" deep. I have looked at maybe 500 + photos of old school desks and have found only one of similar construction(and it is from England and is listed only as"Old School Desk" for $800 USD) This gives some credence to the one-room schoolhouse the dealer claimed. Probably built by a local carpenter out of Tennessee Pine or similar local wood just for this single classroom. I cannot guarantee any special providence or exact age for this item but can only tell you what the dealer told my client. How it was tagged and what I have found out in my research. It is 28 inches high. And the wooden top is 18 deep by 30 inches across. The flat top has a lip of about half an inch high at the back of it. The desk is steady and sturdy. Quite heavy for such a small thing. It is excellent quality and has a romantic vintage feel. Vintage Antique Wooden and Cast Iron Student’s School Desk with Glass Inkwell
This is a sweet antique school desk is in good condition. I bought it about 30 years ago at an antique store in Ft. Worth. Tx. and refinished it. The wood is probably pine. The desk has been kept on display indoors since its purchase. If you are familiar with these desks. The kid in the seat behind actually uses this desk. These were a little before my time, but that appears to be how they worked. When the seat is down. The desk is about 30 inches in depth, 21 inches wide, and 25 inches tall. The dimensions of the top of the desk are about 20 ½ wide by 13 ½ deep. There is an indention for a pencil and a wooden‘cubby’ for papers and books. The seat in the front and flips down for seating and up if not needed. It also has a clear glass inkwell for‘real’ ink– no ball points yet. The sides are made of heavy black cast iron and have ... morethe number 4 embossed on each side. The feet have holes for screwing the desk into the wooden school house floor. There are some small gouges on the edge of the desk(could have been a pocket knife) And some stains(probably ink) You know how kids are! This desk was my Dads. Then my Aunts and then passed back and forth between cousins and has been in storage for decades. It measures 33 1/2" X 14" X 21 1/2" and the chair is 26" tall. It is in great shape considering its age and has only normal wear with some crayon markings inside the drawer, the chair is more worn and has a sticker on the backrest. This listing is for a beautiful vintage wooden secretary. I could not locate a makers mark anywhere on it. The previous owner filled in the locks with wood putty I guess there were no secrets in their house. There is a deep scratch on the right leg see pictures and a faint scuff on the left front leg. The inside of the secretary the fold down desk has some wear as do the little cubbies see pictures. It is a gorgeous piece and would make a fine addition to your home. Cool Wooden Vintage Roll Top Desk In Great Condition
Condition: Is used but is in absolutely great condition like new! No scratches. No wearing of the wood, no dents, clean, roll top slides very nicely, drawers open great no jerkiness, medium size desk, and spacious enough to fit a sewing machine on it and more! The desk is 45 inches tall, 32 inches wide and 24 inches in length(measuring from side of desk) The top shelf part of the desk is 32 1/2 inches wide and 8 1/2 length. The small 2 drawers are 4 x 6 and 2 inches deep. The medium drawer is 9 x 6 and 2 inches deep. and the large drawer is 17 1/2 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches length and also 2 inches deep. The 2 inches deep may sound little but it can really hold a lot considering the Length and Width of the drawers.

Up for bid is a very beautiful. 100% complete VINTAGE WOODEN ROLL TOP DESK manufactured in Taiwan 1972. This desk was bought for my mother in high school in 1972 by my grandmother and it has been kept in the upmost excellent condition ever since. This classic desk has a fantastic bottom desk drawer that is still perfectly lined inside with it's original gorgeous green felt and all inner drawer pieces. Also included are its 2 original inner drawers, and it's inner 4 divider panels that create 5 individual slots for storage. All handles and hardware are accounted for and they are each full of shine are very clean. All wood sides are in fantastic condition as well, great color, great shine, and it has a flawless rolling door. This desk measures at 32 1/2" long. 24" wide, 44 1/2" tall and it has little to really no wear ... moreat all. All drawers are perfect, perfect rolling door, perfect hardware, perfect legs. There are no scratches on any part of wood surfaces, there is a very small black ink dot on desk writing surface(see picture) a very small 1/8" piece off wood chip in front right of desk writing surface(see picture) small are of delamination on front left side panel that can be easily glued and it is very much in tact and complete for gluing(see picture) I have given a very accurate description of this age old desk and I have provided pictures of all angles for your viewing and biding certainty.
