This roll-cylinder secretary features a wonderful ... moreheavy carved crest, and dates from the 1880's. It comes with three original shelves that are adjustable behind the wavy glass doors. It has burl walnut panels coming down both sides, heavy crown molded top and a crest with big ball finials on each end. It has a commode base with three drawers and a door. The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

This is a sweet antique school desk is in good condition. I bought it about 30 years ago at an antique store in Ft. Worth. Tx. and refinished it. The wood is probably pine. The desk has been kept on display indoors since its purchase. If you are familiar with these desks. The kid in the seat behind actually uses this desk. These were a little before my time, but that appears to be how they worked. When the seat is down. The desk is about 30 inches in depth, 21 inches wide, and 25 inches tall. The dimensions of the top of the desk are about 20 ½ wide by 13 ½ deep. There is an indention for a pencil and a wooden‘cubby’ for papers and books. The seat in the front and flips down for seating and up if not needed. It also has a clear glass inkwell for‘real’ ink– no ball points yet. The sides are made of heavy black cast iron and have ... morethe number 4 embossed on each side. The feet have holes for screwing the desk into the wooden school house floor. There are some small gouges on the edge of the desk(could have been a pocket knife) And some stains(probably ink) You know how kids are! We are selling from our home a beautiful antique secretary desk. Probably from the 1930's, has Art Deco as well as other influences. Made of walnut and burled walnut veneer, the desk has 3 drawers in the lower section, the middle section is a drop front desk with pigeon holes and leather work space, the upper section has leaded glass doors and adjustable shelves. Measures 71- 1/4" tall(almost 6 feet) x 29- 1/2" wide; the lower section is 16" deep, the upper is 7- 3/4" deep. Condition is excellent as shown in the photos. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. This desk has the original curved. Rounded glass on the left side, which makes it really beautiful and elegant. There are shelves behind the glass to hold books and miscellaneous. The right side has a pull-down writing platform. And some cubby holes for envelopes, index cards, etc. and a small drawer for pencils, stamps, etc. Desk has all original hardware. The top has a beveled mirror and a shelf for decorative or practical items. The shelves to the left could be taken out and used as a gun case, but I've never used it for that, and you would have to put in your own lock and key. This is for pick-up only. This desk measures: Top glass front section: 26" tall x 10" deep x 31 wide. distance between the shelves is: 8" They are equal and are not movable. There are 2 shelves making 3 spaces for books, display items etc. The glass doors swing easily and there is a lock that works with a key( included) The left side has an inside clasp under the top shelf to keep it closed. There were at one time X shaped minions on the glass that still have a faint impression in the glass. May be removable-I never tried. Bottom Desk/drawer section: 39 1/2" tall x 16" deep x 31 1/2" wide. The drawers on the inside are 27 1/2" wide x 6 1/4" high x 13 1/4" deep. Each of the 3 drawers are the same size and all slide freely. Desk section: The swing down desk writing surface that closes to a slant measures 11 1/2" deep ... morex 30 1/4" wide. The hinges are sturdy. There are no underneath bars or braces. The remaining desk surface that is existing that goes in from the fold down section measures 15" deep. There are 2 small drawers. One on either side, the drawer inside dimensions are: 6" x 5 3/4" x 1 1/2" deep They both slide freely. Above each drawer are 2 upright letter sections each measuring 7" deep x 3" wide x 4 3/4" high. There is a flat section between the small drawer/letter sections that measures 9" x 7" deep x 9" wide. There is space on either side of this cubby section for taller ledgers, books etc. that measures 2 1/4" wide x 10" tall x 7" deep. This is a very practical and well laid out inside section for various storage. Still useful today for lots of desk type items. Total height is: 65 3/4" The pieces are connected and not easily separated. The desk overall is in very good condition. Even though it is quiet simple in design. The outside is finished off nicely. Here is a beautiful vintage 8-Drawer Wood Desk. Circa 1940's. I couldn't find a maker's mark- although I didn't look underneath- but it looks a lot like Desks made by Maddox of New York. This Desk is well-built and solid- each Drawer features Dovetail construction. This Desk has an imbedded red Leather Top. With gold detailing, Brass Drawer/Side Handles and a 3/8" thick piece of Glass on top. There are three Drawers on the top- a smaller Drawer on each side and a large Drawer in the middle. Below these top Drawers there are three Drawers on the left side and two Drawers on the right side; the bottom right Drawer is a two-Handled File Drawer. This Desk is in good condition for it's age. But does have various blemishes here and there, including some nicks, scratches, scuffs, dings, stains, etc. Some of the Drawers are ... morea little tight when pulled/pushed in and out and could use some lubrication/wax. Available is a vintage partners desk. We are moving and it is time to down-size. Partners desks have drawers on both sides. This has beautiful detailing to the feet and legs. I don't know the type of wood it is made from. It is good and solid. It was purchased at an estate sale some 40+ years ago. I don't know the year it was made. But it is not new. Here are the measurements: about 65 inches long, about 35 inches wide and about 30 inches tall. The desk comes with a heavy-duty glass top. It does not come with a chair. Thiers a metal sign on it that says robert w. irwin company grand rapids in side one of the drawers it aslo has lots of scrapes scatches some tares, but tares are visible on a couple of the drawers,and im missing one of the knobs, also one knob is broken and thier are 4 screws missing also but i hope you,ll find it desk useful as antique desk are of some value i here im just not a antique kind of person. i liked it because i was able to display my picture under the glass very neat! pickup only.
