The desk has a large amount of surface scratches on it, particularly ... moreon the top surface. I am unsure of its actual age. I would guess that it dates to the 1940’s or possibly a bit earlier. It has the original hardware on the drawers although some of the drawer pulls are missing parts of their swivel handles. The desk drawers pull in and out smoothly and have dovetail joints. There are some nice carved details to the front of the desk, but it will most certainly need to be refinished as there are a lot of scratches on it, and some stains inside the drawers as well. The desk is 30” tall, with the space for the chair being 21” high, and 17.5” wide. The desk is 48" long, and 18" wide front to back at most.

It is an unusual desk with drawers opening on both sides and one door on both sides. Each side has a center drawer, a right-hand drawer, and a right-hand door. The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. The overall size is 52 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high.

The center has a large label on the back interior wall that shows a picture of the building and talks about the company that made this piece. The desk has a black leather type writing area that lifts out and there is more secret storage underneath it. The desk top is slanted toward the user. There are 4 ringed legs. This piece has a great patina and is in great condition for its age. It is antique and may not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made. It was made by the Pettibone Mfg. Co. in Cincinnati. OH. There is a brass tag on the center front of the desk part that says the company name and location. It says LIBRARY AND SOCIETY GOODS as well. The measurements are: Base: 29 ½ inches tall, 38 5/8 inches side to side and 30 ¼ inches front to back. It weighs 33 pounds. This listing is for a Fantastic Chippendale Style walnut( I think and am not 100% sure) and fancily veneered vintage Drop Front Secretary Desk with Ball and claw Feet and shell style carvings. 36 inches in overall height. About 16 inches overall depth at widest point of legs and 22 inches overall width again at widest point of legs. Brass lock and hardware but no key. Brass hinges and other hardware. Exotic veneer work. Two drawers. With hardware on one drawer broken and missing in part. Should not be very tough to find replacement hardware. I might be able to assist the buyer in doing so. Drop down door reveals a writing surface roughly 19 inches wide and 14 inches in depth with two drawers and 5 compartments worked in the back. Very elegant. Most definitely made by one of better furniture makers. Spray Stamped"546 Desk" in black ... moreon the underside. Manufacturer unknown. In Great vintage condition.There is a small chip on the back corner, approx 3/8 of an inch, that is not noticeable to the naked eye. there are few very small surface scuffs here and there, maybe 10 to 12 at maximum none bigger then 1 or 2 mm by2to4mm all of which should be easily touched up to an invisible. When desk is closed there appears to be what looks like a surface burn mark which I am not sure if it actually is a surface burn mark or part of the grain as no damage can be observed under magnification. I usually post many more images on my listing than the 12 listed on eBay gallery which only will be visible to individuals on classic eBay site. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. Here is a vintage 1920-30s oak drop front writing desk. It has the original dark oak finish as shown. The desk is 40 inches high by 29.5 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The desk has the original pigeon holes in the interior with one divider missing. The interior does show an ink stain on the right hand side. There is a small area of wear on the left side under the long drawer. The desk has its original key which does work but the lock does not stay in the locked position. The lock may need to be cleaned. One thought was to remove the lock in hopes of finding the maker, but we did not, as we did not want to perhaps damage the screw heads. There are slight marks to the lower right of the Inlaid star on the top. There are two holes with brass cylinders on the front(top) edge.not sure what they are for.no accessory hardware for them either. The star(top) is composed of 16 individual inlaid pieces in the veneer. The wood is unknow to us, if we(I) had to guess I would say walnut, with maple or ash pinstripping forming the boarders on the top and side edges. The bottom is cover in green felt(no picture) somewhat worn, but not ripped, just some rolled edges(comprised of three pieces of felt) one having the number 033 marked on it. This item came with an auctioneer tag from Gaston& Sheehan Auctioneers Inc. in Pflugerville, Tx. with alot number of 680 on the tag. We called them, but without more information, relative to the piece it was impossible to search just the lot number 680. Antique Oak Twin Pedestal Partners Desk - 1/4 Sawn - Very Nice
A beautiful 1/4 sawn Tiger Oak Desk. what they used to call a"Partner's Desk" because it isn't the massive that the boss had. The top is about 30" deep and 50" wide. The build design allows you to get it into tight places. The top comes off of the pedestals and the stringers come out- makes it easy for one person to move. The pedestal feet are wrapped in brass and all the original hardware is intact. The drawers lock when the center drawer is in. Left side- 3 separate drawers Right side- 2 separate drawers(top is standard. Bottom is file) Also has two slide out work areas above the drawer pockets. Chair has great looking wood slats, with metal supports on both sides that adjust. Seat is 17" x 18" and is 18" Off the floor. Desk has large metal pulls and a metal bolt head on all drawer corners. Both pieces in nice condition. Desk top shows some wear around edges. Metal is structurally very good, has some minor nicks and scratches from normal use. There are no locks in top drawers. This is a gorgeous vintage SOLID wood desk. Yes it is made of real wood. Not cheap pressed board. It was also, MADE IN THE USA. Super top quality by Taylor Made of Jamestown Ny Table Co. Dates from approximately the 1940's-50's. Nice large size. The top measures 48" wide x 24" deep. 29.5" high. Kneehole is 20.5" wide and 23.5" high. This has 8 drawers, four on one side, 3 on the other. One drawer is a double deep one. There is one center drawer, which has a lock, but alas, no key. All drawers are dovetailed. The drawers have vintage brass hardware, which has a nice patina. This appears to be original. There is a turned"rope" like decoration around the entire top of the desk. Finish is a brown/red color and is lovely. This is a fabulous piece of furniture, and a great decorative piece. This desk dates back to the early 1900's. It measures 32-1/2" wide x 39" tall(to the flat top of the desk) x 15" deep. It has a little paint splatter on the top and one side but you should be able to get it off. It does not have a key. The desk is complete with 5 pigeon holes 3 small and 2 larger. Below the desk are 3 very nice sized drawers. The glass curio doors do lock as well as the desk top door and the key will be included. The actual dimensions of this piece are 46" wide, 45" high and 13" deep. The desk is 19" wide and 13" deep and 23" deep when in open position. Oak antique student desk(but accommodates most adults up to perhaps 175 lbs. and 5' 10" with 4 rungs below for books. Etc. and ample writing surface. Remaining in whole and good condition with a few issues as described. LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY in zip 22802, Harrisonburg, Virginia. A relatively well-preserved all nearly-all-oak desk. Measuring as follows: 27 1/2" high at the writing surface 33: high at the chair back 17 1/2" high at the seat 18 1/2" x 17" seat 4 rungs below double-back braces(rather thick and substantial) I'm not sure of the wood type of the writing surface. But strikes me as original, with original hardware underneath. One final word on the crack in the seat. It does not bother the butt when sitting at all. And the photos of it may exaggerate it. For display and comfort purposes, I've use a ... morered cushion with it the last few years. It's really been a display piece in my living room, so a guest or two have sat in it maybe 3-4 times just to try it out. Kids also like it. The"45" painted on the back could be removed if you'd like. It has a smooth working roll with working lock and key. The roll operates the drawer locking mechanism. It has an 8 drawer interior. 2 pull-out pencil slides, and 2 stationary troughs. It has all three envelope slats, 2 pull-out writing boards, center drawer with lock(no key) and 3 drawers in the left bank. These drawers are all dove tail construction. The right bank has two dummy drawer fronts joined making a drop front with lock and key that hinges down to expose 3 interior drawers. These drawers are 3 sided and meant to tilt out papers. These originally had center divider, but were removed to accommodate larger pieces of paper. ... moreThere is one large drawer beneath. It has the back privacy panel. All original hardware, inside cubbies and drawer, drop front works well, includes the key! Who ever refinished this piece did an excellent job in removing old varnish, sanding smooth and applying a soft and satiny finish. Just Gorgeous! Plenty of room for everything, and this piece is quite a statement at 52" high, topped with a nice round bevel mirror. Antique Solid Oak Desk 53" X 20" Stands 30" Brass Handles Nice Inlay BEAUTIFUL!!
For sale is a STUNNING antique solid oak desk. This is a beauty in wonderful condition. It does have one minor repair to the front right leg as pictured. And there is some very minimal peeling of the varnish on the top, barely noticeable, pictured. The top right drawer still has the original felt in it and does have a couple spots of wear as you can see in the last picture. Overall excellent antique condition and is it ever so pretty! Measures 53" across, is 20" deep, and stands 30" tall. Not to big, not to small, perfect office desk or just for show, this is one you will want to keep in the family.
