The yellow shakers with blue forget-me-not flowers measure about 1 1/2" at the base narrowing to 7/8" at the gilt top their height is 3 1/2" The second set is a pale blue and is decorated with yellow daises. Up for auction isa pair of antique white opalescent salt& pepper shakers. They have been hand blown by the Northwood Co in the early 1900's. The pattern is called striped. It is part of a condiment set. The tops are orginal and they stand 5" tall. The sides are square and the bottom is round to fit in the set. These are very rare. I have had antique dealers looking for peices to match it. If you want something different for your collection this might be what you are looking for. Antique Hand Painted Bavarian Salt and Pepper, 1880's RARE colors
You are bidding on a gorgeous set of Bavarian salt and pepper shakers that are hand painted and signed. I bought them at an estate sale where the woman only bought antiques from the decade of the 1880's. Several items that I have had looked at by experts have actually dated some things into the 1870's. These are very unique in that they are yellow and brown. Most Bavarian items that you see are the pinks and blues. So few in the earth tones. What an opportunity! They have gold gilding on the top of the shakers and it is intact everywhere except a small spot on what I figure out was the salt shaker. You can only see it by turning it upside down. Antique Porcelain Salt Pepper Shakers Set of 3(Use the 3rd for Garlic or Spice) Could Be Bavarian. French, or Japanese These were an original set of 4(two ends of the table) and one was broken in the 70's California earthquake. They went with my grandparents' Haviland China. A wedding present to my folks. They married in 1948 and these may have been purchased in Germany after the war or in Japan after the Korean War. Use the two for salt and pepper and the third can be garlic, cinnamon, whatever you like to use. The original corks disintegrated, so you'll need to buy new or get plastics plugs. There is some variation of color on their beaks& bodies. They both have beautiful blue wing tips with jet black accents. They have long pointy pumpkin orange beaks although one is a little lighter than the other. Both have bulging googly like eyes. One has 7 pour holes& the other has 5 larger pour holes. Photo 6.
