There are gorgeous antique glass knobs on the 4 drawers that have been painted outside and in and give ample storage. Once the leaf is dropped there are slots for organization. This piece remains very beautiful, with a rich walnut complexion and a highly pronounced grain. The face is flanked by a set of carved columns that run the entire height of this piece, which ends with elegant bun feet. A total of 11 drawers and 1 interior cabinet provide a large amount of storage space, all under lock and key. The locks, however, are quite worn and operate with difficulty. The moulding has also sustained some wear, including a minor wood separation in the front and a filled-in missing piece in the back. Overall condition therefore remains very good. 1940's Shabby Chic Desk
I have a 1940's desk for sale. This desk is priced to sell quickly! The dimensions are 30" tall. 22" deep, and 44" wide. The drawers are dovetailed and slide very easily. The hardware is all original and in mint condition. This desk was purchased new by my parents. It has two beautiful coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint(Provence) was distressed, and finally waxed with both dark and light wax. You will not be disappointed in this fine piece of furniture. We hand paint by brush so you will LOVE it! This bookcase with drop front desk top is done in French White. A pure white with hint of cream color added for a more aged white. Edges lightly distressed. It is great condition for her considerable old age. We date to around 1920 or so. Solid wood. Red Barn's refinishing is an art. and a labor of love. It includes hours and hours dedicated to each piece. Thorough quality assessment. Cleaning, making repairs/improvements, prep, paint, distress, photographing, ... morepacking and following through all the way to delivery. We only use USA made water-based, no VOC, lead-free paints. We never spray paint which, though quicker and cheaper, is far less durable and lifeless. As with all antique furniture this piece has characteristic dents and dings here& there but there are no major faults. The paint inside the drop front lid corner is a little peely. A split in the backing wood shows some day light inside the cabinet area when the lid is open. Is characteristic for age and adds some charm. Old lock is original. Sorry no key. The holes both have original covers(very rare) with their original hardware. The 2 drawers had to have the hardware replaced.
