Antique Child's Miniature School Desk, Wood & Cast Iron Metal Kindergarten Size
I found this miniature child's school desk while cleaning out an old farm homestead. This desk is very small 20" tall. 17.5" long and 12.5" wide. There is a pencil groove in the top. It is wood and cast iron construction. Definitely an old one and its condition is commensurate with the age. Just as I found it, the paint is worn and missing, the metal is rusty and pitted. The bottom of the legs appear to be missing some type of foot perhaps and one leg is slightly shorter. The wood has NO rot issues. Measures about 16 inches to top of seat. 15" wide, 30" to table top. The top is adjustable up or down abount an inch or so either way. This desk has not been painted or restored in any way. My first grader can sit in it easily. I estimate that a second or possibly smaller third grade student could sit in this desk. Its in very good structural condition. Its a little rough cosmetically. All the wood is in great shape. The metal has only surface rust in some areas. I can't determine whether it has the original paint or if someone has tried to work on it before. My desk top is clean on top with wood in good condition. metal has wear in some places. No rust and never been painted. My sister and I bought two them together for well over $100.00 a piece. I purchased mine for my son to have structure home work time and place after school to do home work. I was shock he came home and had snack and did work for 45 minutes and his grades went up! Early 1900's Children's School House Desk Marked with Grand Rapid Michigan. This is a#5 school house desk. It stands 23" high at the desk side and 12" high at the bench side. Both the bench and desk are 19" long and 12" deep. Overall dimensions are 19" wide x 24" long x 23" high Bench folds up. There is also a shelf under the desk. Overall the condition is excellent. There are some child's carvings into the top of the desk but it came from a child's play room so it was an in use item. One corner of the bench is chipped as seen in the photos. Vintage Mid Century Tanker Desk Tanker desks like this one were manufactured in the 1940s and 1950s and were known for being exceptionally well made and solid. This is a piece in very good condition. There is no brand name visible on the desk. But it is a fine example of the tanker type desk, such as those made by Steelcase, McDowell& Craig or Shaw-Walker. The desk features: Black Steel construction Grey/Silver Steel trim/handles/hardware"Wood" Formica laminate surface on top of desk Steel tapered legs/feet. 6 Drawers: 3 left side drawers Wide center drawer 2 right side drawers: one regular drawer and one large file cabinet drawer with insert to hold hanging files 2 pullout writing flap tables(one with pull-knob. One without) Lock on center drawer(no key) The drawers easily open and close. DIMENSIONS: 30W x 60L x 28.5H. The ... moredesk is in unusually good condition- the"wood" surface has no cuts or nicks. Just one small circular(very slight) discoloration in the far right corner where a lamp was attached for a number of years- I have tried to show in the photograph but it is barely visible. There is also some wear at the bottom opening between the drawers. From where a chair would have rubbed against over the years, but nothing that a fresh coat of paint couldn't solve. Likewise the minimal nicks in parts of the sliver trim- I have tried to show all of this in the photos. Overall. The condition of the desk is very good and needs only a little work to refurbish. 1900-1950 Desktop File-Wood (teak?) & Metal by Weis Manufacturing Co. Monroe, MI
This beautiflul wooden desktop filer is somewhat abused by use and by time and inadequate storage provisions. In its day it was used on the counter of a Nebraskan watchmakers/jewelry shop to maintain copies of invoices. The period of usage was from 1924 until approximately 1940. There is one knob/foot missing underneath. While I could repair it with a small wooden plug from the hardware store I prefer to offer this item for sale as is. I don't know woods by site but I think this might be teak.

For auction is a sweet little antique student school desk with a pull out drawer underneath. I was told it is probably from the early 1900's. But I'm not quite sure. It is very heavy and constructed of both wood and metal, which I believe is painted cast iron because of its weight. The metal has surface rust throughout and the top wooden part of the desk does have some movement. It appears the connecting bar underneath has snapped and will need to be soldered. But overall, this little school desk looks nice, even the way it is. The wood is still in great shape. Hard to come by one like this. Would make a nice photography prop for youngsters. It measures@24.5" high to the top of the seat(the back of chair) and the seat itself sits at@11.5" The wood tray measures@ 20" x 14" at the widest points.
