They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. The drawer assembly is grey. The wooden top is a butcher block style. Some of the pieces of wood on the top are slightly warped or uneven, and as you can see in the photos, the finish and patina of the wood top is very patchy and has various shades of wood colors. The right end of the wood top is a lighter shade than the rest of the top– it was sitting outside with another table covering most of it except the area on the right, and is a bit faded. It is slowly gaining character and has a few marks and scratches as one would expect for a desk of this age. It is based upon a georgian style desk and would look well in any office/ living room. The desk stands on georgian style bracket feet supporting the main section that has three small drawers eitherside of the knee hole and to the back of the knee hole there is a door. There are two top larger drawers that are serpentine leading to the top. The top has a bull nosed edge and wooden frame leading to a superb leather section. Which is quite rare having the circle in the middle. The leather is red with a gold trim around and has no rips or tears but plenty of marks and scratches to add character to the desk. This is from a large group of antique foundry molds etc. that I will be listing over time. These came from the estate of a local man who purchased them years ago from a foundry in Menomonie. This foundry originated in 1898 as the Dunn County Iron Works where they produced castings for sawmills and brickyards. A couple of years later they became the Aetna Engine Works which produced gasoline powerplants for sawmills. In the 1910's the engine work was stopped and it became the Forster Foundry Company. In 1928 a floor drain was started but the depression/stock market brought an end to this. The company now operates as the Badger Iron Works. joe calcite INDUSTRIAL OAK& CAST IRON MACHINE LEGS STAND BASE This offering is for a set of cast iron sewing machine legs/ stand. BUT WITH A DIFFERENCE. I've seen the queen anne style legs, with the curve and'shoulder' part of the cast iron. In this case, the cast iron legs come with oak legs with a groove in the back to fit snugly over the iron and screw on from the rear. This gives you the option of using just the iron legs, or dressing them up with oak as your mood and decor dictate. To complete the transformation, I have included the trim pieces from the original upper cabinet so that the oak runs top to bottom. Unfortunately, the lower 5" of one is broken off, but placed on the side facing a wall or sofa, it would go unnoticed by most. Given the unique character, many wouldn't care. There are no cracks or breaks ... morein the iron. The paint was originally brown. But is now heavily worn with some light rust in places. The finish on the oak was dried out and flaking badly, so the rest of the finish was removed with a stiff brush and the exposed faces were clear coated. The wood itself is also worn. The legs measure 16" wide at the top, 13.5" wide at the bottom. Total height is 28" The stretcher is 23" wide, but can be replaced with a heavy threaded rod to place them closer together or further apart. Casters work but have a few flattened spots where its been dragged perpendicular to the wheels. This is a very nice machine age cast iron base or pedestal. It would make a great stand or table base. It measures 18" high. It is 3" in diameter at the top, 2 1/8" in diameter inside and when measuring across any two legs it is 20" center to center. diameter. There are two set screws at the top which need to be loosened with WD 40 or something similar. Other than some obvious surface rust it is in good solid condition. This a nice pair of vintage cast iron furniture legs purchased about 10-12 years ago from a salvage yard in the Berkeley/Oakland area in CA. The story is that they were a matched pair with marble tops. But the marble was gone when these were purchased. They are in very good condition, and would make a nice set of legs for new marble tops. Age and manufacturer are not available, as there are no cast-in markings. The table legs are 28-1/2" high. Each leg is 15" wide at the top and bottom. The legs are 27-1/2" apart. And are separated by a middle trussed spacer, which have two threaded studs on each end. The legs are held together by two nuts on each side, which hold the middle trussed spacer. These legs can be used to make either one large table, or two smaller matching tables. One stud broke off. And was replaced by drilling ... moreinto the end, and potting a threaded 5/16-18 threaded rod with epoxy into the drilled hole(see picture) Also please note that some of the threaded studs are bent, but are functional(see pictures) The legs weigh 21 pounds each. Vintage Antique Singer Sewing Machine Cast Iron Industrial Leg Base
We have for sale a Vintage Antique Singer Sewing Machine Cast Iron Industrial Leg Base. The base measures 28-1/4 inches in height. 23-1/8 inches in length, 12 inches across the top, and 19 inches from leg to leg at base. This cast iron base is in great clean condition. The treadle foot works freely. The sides have the Singer Sewing Machine Co. logo with the gold paint applicant. This base is not all rusted up and works and displays nicely. Unless this turns out to be a local pickup, it will be disassembled for easier packing and shipping. This would make a great base for a table, or for many other functions. You won't be disappointed. Antque Fixed Position Cast Iron Base W.G. Shattuck Leg Machine Age Industrial
Please use the Supersize Feature on our pictures at the top and below the description as we consider them to be a very important part of our auctions- our photos show great detail and they are about the next best thing to"being there" Here is a unique stationary table or chair base leg. This antique salvaged piece is made of cast iron and dates to around the late 1800's. It is marked around the outside edge of the pedestal base with W.G. Shattuck. No. 1. It is coated with remnants of the original old black paint. There is some very minor light rust coloring near the base. This is a very sturdy base and could be used for any number of projects. This pedestal base is not adjustable and has a slight tilt or angle to the top mounting brackets. The base stands 15” tall in the middle. 14 ½” tall at the low bracket(which is also ... morethe shortest of the two) and 15 ¼” tall at the highest end. There are 4 brackets on top with a single pre-drilled hole in each one for mounting purposes. The side brackets are 1” long, the tallest bracket is 1 ¾” long, and the lowest bracket is 2 ¼” long. The two smaller brackets measure 7 ¾” from side to side and the high and low point brackets measure 10” from end to end. The round base measures 9” across the bottom and there are 5 pre-drilled holes for mounting. Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have– I am always happy to answer! Welcome! Today we are offering a beautiful ornate antique cast iron three legged base and pole for a table or gum ball machine. The base measures 14-1-2" across from foot to foot. The pole measures 22" long. The base has an approx 1/2" hole for a threaded screw. The pole has an approx 3/8" opening on both ends, one to affix the base, one to affix a table top to. I do not have a screw to assemble this, but a quick visit to Home Depot should fix you up. Great industrial steampunk project piece! The cast iron is very heavy. Weighs about 17 pounds. Good Form Mid-Century Modern Aero Space Desk Chair. This is the boss's arm chair with leather-like padded back and arms. Fabric seat. Brushed stainless steel propeller legs and 4 hard rubber casters in great shape. Rolls. Swivels and tilts easily. Tilt is adjustable with knob underneath seat. Good condition. Metal is flawless. NO RUST. One arm has small tears. See photos. Tag with serial number still on underneath seat. Seat is well worn and could use stuffing but is still comfortable as is.
