Being presented for sale is this fabulous 19th century French Empire Mahogany Marble top Dressing Table Vanity with gilt ormolu. The details on this piece are truly beautiful! Brass accents adorn the mirror supports with brass acorn knobs securing the oval mirror to the supports. The original white& grey marble is inserted into the vanity top. A storage drawers below with a gorgeous angel type ormolu key escutcheon. The lock is present in the drawer but we do not have the key. Flanking the drawer are Roman Goddess type faces with plumage ormolu below.just splendid! This piece measures 55 inches to the top of the mirror. Height to the marble base measures 31 inches, with a width of 22 inches and a depth at the base of 15 1/2 inches and this piece weighs approximately 60 lbs. A very lovely antique. Circa 1920's, French Louis XV style secretaire a abattant(drop front secretary. The slightly serpentined case is entirely veneered in shades of mahogany, and light wood string inlaid. There are cast brass mounts: drawer pulls, escutcheons, bandings, corner and skirt ornaments. The top is a complimenting polished marble slab. The top three faux drawers drop down to reveal the desk with leather writing surface, and with drawered cubbyhole. The abattant measures 4' 48" tall by 2' 24" wide by 14" deep, the drop front frame 16" by 15-3/4" the leather surface 9-3/4" by 9-1/2" The desk is 27-1/2" up from the floor. Includes all five locks and the key. Very good plus condition: original finish to mahogany, all brass mounts present. The roll has a oval marquetry inlay of flaming torch and arrows with florals. The petite bookcase has brass grill doors. The cubbyhole has two plain drawers, and a leather framed pull forward writing surface. At top is a pierced brass gallery framing a French polished buff marble slab. The tapered square legs have brass booties. The desk measures 3'10" 46" tall by 2'5-1/2" 29-1/2" wide by 15-1/2" deep. The distance from long drawer to floor is 23" tall.
