For sale is a 1950s 2 arm industrial Jielde multi angle articulated machine ... morelamp. The aluminium elbows have been polished. The lamp is in working order and comes with 2.4 metres of new flex but not the plug as it is a French one. It is in very good used condition with some very minor signs of use to the reflector's surface. The reflector has its original high temperature painted surface and still has the bulb wattage/voltage sticker intact. The switch is in the base. I have included the lamp's weighted vehicle brake disc base in the sale. These lamps are very sort after and nice examples like this are becoming difficult to find. The photos don't do it justice! The lamp takes a Standard Bayonet cap bulb(B22) which are available at all DIY outlets. Bulb not included. The maximum wattage is 150w. Jielde lamps were designed by Jean-Louis Domecq for direct mounting on machine tools and for use in workshops. The lamps have now become particularly fashionable for use in loft style apartments and in homes generally as desk lamp/floor or wall lamps. So, hence I have fitted a trailing flexible lead to make the light more useable in the home. I have displayed this light using a vehicle brake disc which provides a solid base to show a typical method of mounting the light. Heavy sprockets. Hardwood- anything heavy will do the job. The light can also be fixed to a wall if required using its mounting base/bracket which has 3 holes in it. Although the light isn't heavy, it will require a solid wall and sturdy fixings to mount it as the movement required to adjust the lamp to the desired position will put stress on the mounting. They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. rare antique metal rolltop desk vintage industrial coal mine steampunk brass vtg
This auction is for an amazing desk. I have looked everywhere and cannot find another one like it. It is made of all metal except the bottom few inches of the legs. Even the lattice work on the sides is metal. There is also some brass or copper trim in some areas. Those areas are the handle. The feet on the legs, and on the front lip of the desk top. The desk measures 52 inches tall, 45 inches wide, and 30 inches deep. The desktop is 36.5 inches off the floor. I do not know what the original color was. It was painted at one point a brown color and then someone started to restore it and painted it red. I think if it was completed stripped it down to bare metal it would be unbelieveable, I just do not have the time or resources to have it restored. It is a really well made piece. It easily breaks down into small components to transport. As ... moreyou can see in the photos it shows some wear and needs a little tlc but really not that much. All the parts are there minus a few screws and a small spring. I have the lock to the top it just needs to be put back in. I do not have the key though. The top does open and close but I am sure some WD-40 will really make it smooth again. The spring is put in the drawer so when the rolltop is closed the drawer will lock. That is a sub dollar part and then you will have to get several screws to really secure the whole piece. It is solid and can be used as is, but there is a shelf inside the desk that needs screws and the trim on the front of the desk also needs screws. Really not that hard to do and I may even do it myself here in the next couple days and revise the listing. It is piece you really have to see to appreciate it and like I said I think it is great as is, but with some restoration it could be on the cover of a magazine. I was told this desk was used at a coal mine. It was the foreman's desk where he could keep important papers and money. Could easily lock it up and open it to pay employees. Vintage Norman Bel Geddes Industrial Art Deco Simmons Steel/Metal Desk Original
The good thing about this desk(aside from the design) is that. Contrary to how it looks, it really doesn't have any dents or dings that you might expect to find in a metal desk that's this old. I only found 2 things structurally that need pointed out& neither one is a big deal. First. On the top in the right corner there is a 1" cut(see pic#9) The second is a small bulge on the back at the bottom near the leg on the right(see last pic) Not my desk so I'm not taking a mallet to it to fix it(selling for a friend) Norman Bel Geddes industrial designed desk manufactured by the Simmons Furniture Company. Authentic Simmons Furniture Company metal desk. Or vanity. Norman Bel Geddes designed. Industrial look. From the 40's or 50's or so I believe. Nice sturdy metal desk. 3 drawers. Rounded corners. The short legs are removable. Big green knobs, may or may not be original. Drawers slide nicely but you must pull firmly. Top has a small slice cut, and a few dents. There are brackets in the back that were to hold a mirror, so i am guessing its meant to be a vanity but it makes a nice desk. Top is 21" x 44.5" Height is 31" Depth is 21" Legs are 11" long.

I have inverted the legs under the storage side but they can be flipped to bow outwards as originally sold. This desk has no bad angles and is a great streamline American Raymond Loewy design that blends with some mid century. Made by the same company that produced Goodform chairs. Vintage Mid Century Tanker Desk Tanker desks like this one were manufactured in the 1940s and 1950s and were known for being exceptionally well made and solid. This is a piece in very good condition. There is no brand name visible on the desk. But it is a fine example of the tanker type desk, such as those made by Steelcase, McDowell& Craig or Shaw-Walker. The desk features: Black Steel construction Grey/Silver Steel trim/handles/hardware"Wood" Formica laminate surface on top of desk Steel tapered legs/feet. 6 Drawers: 3 left side drawers Wide center drawer 2 right side drawers: one regular drawer and one large file cabinet drawer with insert to hold hanging files 2 pullout writing flap tables(one with pull-knob. One without) Lock on center drawer(no key) The drawers easily open and close. DIMENSIONS: 30W x 60L x 28.5H. The ... moredesk is in unusually good condition- the"wood" surface has no cuts or nicks. Just one small circular(very slight) discoloration in the far right corner where a lamp was attached for a number of years- I have tried to show in the photograph but it is barely visible. There is also some wear at the bottom opening between the drawers. From where a chair would have rubbed against over the years, but nothing that a fresh coat of paint couldn't solve.
