Fantastic Chippendale Style Walnut Drop Front Secretary Desk Very Very Nice
This listing is for a Fantastic Chippendale Style walnut( I think and am not 100% sure) and fancily veneered vintage Drop Front Secretary Desk with Ball and claw Feet and shell style carvings. 36 inches in overall height. About 16 inches overall depth at widest point of legs and 22 inches overall width again at widest point of legs. Brass lock and hardware but no key. Brass hinges and other hardware. Exotic veneer work. Two drawers. With hardware on one drawer broken and missing in part. Should not be very tough to find replacement hardware. I might be able to assist the buyer in doing so. Drop down door reveals a writing surface roughly 19 inches wide and 14 inches in depth with two drawers and 5 compartments worked in the back. Very elegant. Most definitely made by one of better furniture makers. Spray Stamped"546 Desk" in black ... moreon the underside. Manufacturer unknown. In Great vintage condition.There is a small chip on the back corner, approx 3/8 of an inch, that is not noticeable to the naked eye. there are few very small surface scuffs here and there, maybe 10 to 12 at maximum none bigger then 1 or 2 mm by2to4mm all of which should be easily touched up to an invisible. When desk is closed there appears to be what looks like a surface burn mark which I am not sure if it actually is a surface burn mark or part of the grain as no damage can be observed under magnification. I usually post many more images on my listing than the 12 listed on eBay gallery which only will be visible to individuals on classic eBay site. Stunning Edwardian Chippendale style Secretary, 19th Century
This beautiful piece has been in the family for the past 40 years. Originally purchased in a Danish high-end antique shop(in Denmark) in the early 1970's(we still have the purchase receipt! It has been the home for most of the family's heirlooms. Due to a move happening in the near future. We must part with it. It has a flat top with dental frieze moulding. Vintage Mahogany Maddox Claw Foot Secretary Desk Bookcase Chippendale Style
This is a very nice Chippendale style mahogany secretary desk. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural integrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden ... morevertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey. Antique Dark Tone mahogany Chippendale style secretary Northwestern Cabinet Co.
Antique drop front. Vintage mahogany Chippendale style secretary with Queen Ann ball and talon feet Clean furniture. Dimensions: 16"D X 43"W X 78"H Piece manufactured by the Northwestern Cabinet Company of Burlington Iowa as indicated by the label on the back. Believe this piece was manufactured around 1940’s and sold as Governor Winthrop secretary as indicated in the manufactures catalog page in the attached pictures. Piece has three full width drawers. Drop down writing service but the supports no longer automatically extend. Behind drop down door are three small drawers, 6 open compartments, one closed compartment and two secret small compartments. Colonial Reviv al Depression-era slant-front desk with fitted interior. Prospect door, document drawers, serpentine front and shallow carved ball and claw feet. There are four drawers and the desk drops open with organization inside with small drawers and separation pieces. The desk is made of solid mahogany wood. An early 20th century Ebert Furniture Co. Federal style mahogany secretary. This secretary is designed with a swan neck pediment featuring a finial to center. The cabinet has mullioned accents to glass doors. The cabinet opens to two shelves to the inside. The desk opens to six pigeon holes. A small cabinet and a small drawer. The secretary is finished with a serpentine front featuring four drawers. The drawers have machine cut dovetail construction, keyholes(with key) and bail pulls over bat wing back plates. Mahogany Chippendale style slant-front secretary/desk with 3 full size lower drawers with serpentine fronts. Brass pulls and key holes in the drawers and drop front(see photo with key) claw and ball feet. The desk drops open to reveal 6 cubbies, 3 drawers, one hideaway with small door. There are two secret compartments(see photo) on either side of the small door. Dimensions are approximately 30" wide x 40" tall x 15" deep. Standing with a height of(estimated) 6'9" tall. 2'6" length(when cabinet is open and 1'5" when closed) 2'8" wide. With some wear on the inside, undoubtably from once being used. Beautiful Antique Chippendale Style Mahogany Secretary Desk
This has been in our family since it was bought new- probably in the 1920s- maybe a little earlier. It is in very good condition- original finish and all original hardware and glass. It is very solid. And inside it has various neat cubbies, including two hidden compartments. It has claw feet and a lot of nice details. I have looked around, but haven't been able to find another one exactly like it. The manufacturer's label is long gone, but it is a quality piece(the original owner had a seat on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange) We would keep it but can't find a place to put it in our house.
