Very good overall condition, This gorgeous antique burl walnut secretaire was crafted in France around the year 1900. Today. This piece remains very beautiful, with a rich walnut complexion and a highly pronounced grain. The face is flanked by a set of carved columns that run the entire height of this piece, which ends with elegant bun feet. A total of 11 drawers and 1 interior cabinet provide a large amount of storage space, all under lock and key. The locks, however, are quite worn and operate with difficulty. The moulding has also sustained some wear, including a minor wood separation in the front and a filled-in missing piece in the back. Overall condition therefore remains very good. The desk provides a very beautiful workspace. With a variety of drawers. This secretaire contains plenty of storage space. The sides look great. The finish on the very top has worn a bit. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor.
