Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. Has one pin to hold the white glass shade and is Im pretty sure for a three way bulb. In great shape for age. Very minimal wear of black basicaly in one part that I see. Whole thing measures about 28 inches tall at the loop x 18. On the bottom is a metal plate that does have some rust but it doesnt affect the lamp. The shade is meant to fit perfectly on the white glass shade so it doesnt move. I dont know if it would hold a glass chimney or not but it doesnt look like it was intended for that. I think the hole at the top is to let out the heat. You will love it. It will need to go parcel post due to being oversize and to cut down on shipping cost. Grab it before someone else does. Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. Victorian style, Vintage partner’s desk, masterfully crafted in mahogany, from the second half of the 20th Century, with it's original gilded tooled leather writing surface. There is no mistaking its superb quality and elaborate design. Which is certain to make it a talking point in your home and add a touch of luxury to your study room. The desk is finished on all sides and can stand in the middle of a room, and has very attractive pannelled sides. Partners desks were made with drawers on one side and drawers and cupboards on the other. Making it possible for two people to work at the same time, hence the term"partners desk" This grand desk has a very solid construction.
