Vintage Antique Oak Folding Child's Desk
For auction is a great old antique child's folding or collapible desk in oak. One pair of legs is hinged to allow for the desk to be folded down for storage. The desk is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. It does have minor dings from years of hard use. I bought this at a yard sale& though someone might want to rehab it. It has not been touched in quite a while it seems& has some damage to its desktop with a few paint splashes. The darker variations on the wood are just droplets of rain that came off of my garage door right before taking the photos. The metal is in need of TLC as it shows signs of wear. The drawer under the chair comes in and out. The desk moved back and forth with an adjustable lever. I'm not an antique person but will ship it in pieces or all together based on your request. Antique Vintage All Wood School Desk Chair Top Child Industrial Machine Age
This is an all wood antique child's chair top. It is in good condition. A few of the curved backing pieces need a little glue and a vice overnight to tighten them up to the top backrest. The piece is solid other than that. This is very old. Strong wood which has some gorgeous curvature to it. The bottom of the chair which is sat on is about 14.5" deep. The back of the chair is about 15 10/16" tall.

This is my childhood rolltop desk and swivel chair which dates back to approximately 1953-1956. It has been loved and well cared for through the years and still retains its lustre. I believe it to be made of solid maple and is very sturdy. Inside of the rolltop are 5 cubbyhole compartments and 1 drawer. The front has 4 drawers and 1 pull-out shelf for extra writing space. The desk measures 37 1/2" high x 29 3/4" wide x 18" deep. The swivel chair is 27 1/2" high. The seat measures 14 1/4" x 14" Location is Adamstown. So I can only go by what I was told, but back when I bought it, the dealer informed me that the desk AND chair are a MATCHED PAIR that are from the 1920's. He said the brass hardware on the drawers are consistent with that period, but is not certain if they are the actual ... moreoriginal handles that were on it the day it was first sold. Unfortunately, I can't remember the manufacturers name, but you might be able to tell by looking at the pictures. I looked it over and couldn't find any labels or markings. I love the little chair. The fully functional brass hardware and triple banister post back. Coupled with the corkscrew design for raising and lowering the chair height is such a clever and inventive design. It is also very strong and sturdy! They just don't make chairs this durable any more! You can truly feel the history when you see this set. It is a great little set. The desks roll top is fully functional and there are little cubby cubicles inside for storage. There are 2 smoothly sliding drawers with a skeleton key type lock. No key though. The desk and chair both have the normal wear and tear marks from the last almost 100 years. But they both in pretty good shape considering it was used by children. Vintage Child's Rolltop Desk with Matching Adjustable Height Swivel Chair UNIQUE
Here is a unique vintage child's roll top desk and matching adjustable swivel chair. In solid excellent condition. The desk measures 35"H x 27"W x 15"D. It has pigeon holes and 2 drawers. The slats are secure and their supporting canvas is intact and without fraying. The matching chair measures 24" high when wound all the way down, and may be unwound safely to about 28" It is most likely an Eastman, but labels on back have been torn too much to see. This is a charming little desk that is additionally beautiful because of the children's markings it carries. It is not a perfect child's relic from the 1930's-1940's. Rather. It was clearly in use by children of its era! There is a Sarah Crewe(Shirley Temple) quote from the 1939 film"The Little Princess, carved into the desktop by a child's ... morehand. The carving isn't immediately noticeable, and it was difficult to photograph the entire passage because much of it begins further back under the pigeon holes. In addition. There are 4 children's names and ages, scrawled in faded red crayon, in big, looping beginner cursive, hidden on one side of the bottom drawer, not at all visible unless the drawer is pulled out. There are two Henderson children's names, and two Powell children's names Much vintage/antique furniture pieces seem to be valued most for their flawlessness. While structural integrity/overall condition is no doubt very important. These items were in fact owned, loved and used by others before us. The history they carry is often just as important as aesthetic beauty, and the marks left by others may often be an enchanting enhancement of the original aesthetic! It was this unique carved quote that drew me to purchase this little desk over the other 2 available child's desks at the time that I found it! Vintage Oak Child's Tall School Desk -- Local Pickup Only, Southern California
This vintage oak school desk stands 28-3/4" tall. I haven't seen one like this before; I assume a stool is used for the chair. The width is 24" across and the depth is 16" The oak stain is satin or matte finish. The top of the desk is flat. Not sloped, and has a pencil groove and inkwell. The hinged top lifts up and has a nice, deep drawer measuring 4-3/4" high and 13-5/8" deep. It would hold quite a lot. The height to the bottom of the drawer is 22-1/2" from the floor and 18-1/2" across. Inbetween the desk legs. The desk is in very good vintage condition. The hinged top works smoothly and the hinges appear to be in good condition. Nothing feels loose or weak and the desk is solid and sturdy. The legs are not wobbly. Vintage American Seating Co. Child's School Desk with Bench Seat A very unique version of an item I see so often they all tend to look alike. Not only is this desk a great piece of Americana but it also serves as a nice piece of Folk Art. The art is what drew my attention. It's simple and quaint. The desk and bench seat were made by the American Seating Co. I am unsure of the year of manufacture but I know that the bolt down desk and chair were replaced by the 1 piece desk/chair unit. Also. What's nice about this piece, is that it's not small. I can sit comfortably at it without feeling cramped. The overall dimensions are 33"L x 23 1/2"W x 31 3/8"H Dimensions for the bench seat is 22"across x 31 3/8"tall x 15"deep Dimensions for the desk are 23 1/2"across x 28"tall x 16"deep The ... morewood is in rather good condition considering its age. There is a small crack on the backrest of the bench seat though. There are also pencil. Crayon, pen, and other assorted markings on the wood desk top and even a few shallow etchings. Typical stuff that kids do. I think it adds personality and charm. Pieces like this are to see and appreciate not necessarily to be functional. Although, this can be both I suppose. Local pick up is welcomed and shipping can also be arranged. I am also willing to deliver to a limited range for a negotiated and reasonable price agreed upon before purchase. THIS CHILD SCHOOL DESK IS VERY. VERY GORGEOUS. IT IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN PRODUCED IN THE LATE 1930'S OR EARLY FORTIES. IT IS IN SUPERB CONDITION. THE METAL FRAME COULD USE SOME TOUCH UP PAINT, BUT ALL THE WOODEN PARTS SEEM TO BE JUST FINE. THE WRITING SURFACE IS JUST SUPERB. IT COMES WITH THE PENCIL HOLDER. THE DESK WRITING SURFACE IS 22-3/4" FROM TOP FRONT TO THE FLOOR. THE SEAT IS 13" HIGH FROM THE FLOOR AND THE BACK IS 25" HIGH FROM THE FLOOR. THE MIDDLE BACK SUPPRT PIECE ROTATES TO ACCOMMODATE THE CHILD'S BACK. THE WRITING SURFACE IS 12-1/2" WIDE AND 18" LONG. THE TOP IS TAPERED AS NOTED IN THE PHOTOS. The drawer bottoms are solid sheets of wood. The side panels on this desk are inset. Vintage/ Antique School Desk Made of iron and wood. Features manufacture's make embossed into the iron that features an image of the Company logo and reads American Seating Company Grand Rapids Mich. This charming piece of Americana also has a pencil holder built into the top of the desk and an area for storage in the front. Based on the history of The American Seating Company. Originally part of the Grand Rapids School Furniture Company founded in 1886, and the maker's mark, the piece can be reasonably dated. In 1906 the company became known as the American Seating Company and in 1931 its' offices moved from Chicago,IL to Grand Rapids, MI. In 1930, the company began to brand wooden desks with the“lamp of knowledge” logo which continued until 1956 when the logo was replaced. Based on this historical data the chair was manufactured ... morebetween 1931 and 1956 as it features the"lamp of knowledge" logo. Dimensions: Approximately 17.5" wide. 17" deep(front to back/ deepest point at bottom of desk) and 25" tall. Great collectible. Perfect for child's room or paired with a doll collection. Vintage Sears and Roebuck Child's School Desk with Bench Seat. Row bench style seating. I have seen these desks on boards and placed one in front of the other for children classroom seating. This one is one full desk and a seat in front of the desk, all attached onto an old board with screws. The manufacturer is Sears and Roebuck. The wood is old and faded but is in good condition. A bit of oils or staining and sanding will bring her right back. The seat in front of the desk has a broken seat board, it can be re glued. The cast iron on the same seat in not attached. It appears there is a snub or cast to slide into place on the seat but since the board needs glued I will not mess with this. I can offer local pick up or I will dis assemble to ship. Under lid is a child's signature of Janelle, and Janelle was an Amish friend and I believe it was hers. Desk top and chair have been stained, could be returned to original patina. Wooden top(friend in construction believes it is oak) contains an ink well, a place for pencil, and lifts up to metal storage space-does not stay open(missing one of 4 screws holding lid-might stay open with 4th screw-I didn't add screw, didn't want to change originality) Storage space has another pencil holder. Has mechanism to make top lie flat instead of slanted. It has mechanisms to show the desk and chair are adjustable, but I haven't tried to adjust it. Great deal!worth much more! Up for auction is a black& red child's school desk. The desk legs adjust from 21 1/2" in the lower position and 26 1/2 in the upper position. The desk measures 20 1/2" x 14 3/16" and has an inkwell& pencil groove. The chair seat is 19" x 12 1/4" and the back is 19" x 15 1/8" The chair in the down position is 14" and 17" up. These are all approximate measurements. It is in good condition with surface rust. The desk will be partially disassembled to reduce box size and shipping cost. It is not difficult to reassemble. It is wood and metal and some additional cleaning may be desired. There are some splatters of paint on the desk top and the top of the back of the chair as photoed.
