The Weiss(or Weis) insignia on the front is barely legible. The outside dimensions are: 5 1/2" high. 6 3/4" wide, 8 3/8" deep and the wood is 1/4" thick. The top opens up until the back of the lid touches the back of the box but it can be balanced up if need be. I believe it to be French Provincial. But since I haven't been able to find one like it, I am unsure. It has a drop down writing surface, with cubbies, and one large drawer. It also has beautiful scroll work on it. The desk was refinished, but the mirror is original. At one time there must have been a key, but it does not have one now. The dimensions are: Length 30" depth 16" Height 50" The little cubbies area measures 17"x8" The drop down portion measures 29"x13" The mirror measures 26"x9" Measurements are all approximate. Vintage Antique Oak Folding Child's Desk
For auction is a great old antique child's folding or collapible desk in oak. One pair of legs is hinged to allow for the desk to be folded down for storage. The desk is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. It does have minor dings from years of hard use. It is made of solid oak and it actually has a spline inserted in each edge of the top to prevent it from warping. when upright. This is such a rare& beautiful piece of furniture. I purchased it from an elderly lady in Edmonds WA that had had the desk most of her life. Her story was that the desk had served in the Washington state capitol building. she had a paper(see photo) with a few of the details typed up. I have kept that paper with the desk since I bought in in 1989. Crafted by S. Friedman Cabinet Company of Indianapolis The dimensions are 50.5 x 34 x 59. It is larger than normal. I have for sale an antique Moulthrop school desk and chair. It was made in the early 1900's by Langslow Fowler. Which was a early manufacturer of Arts and Crafts furniture in Rochester. NY. They competed with Gustav Stickley. Stickly Brothers and Roycroft. It is made of oak and iron hardware. The chair has a drawer that slides open for books. There is a inkwell holder is attached to the metal brace on the side. The black metal brace has the name MOULTHROP stamped on the bottom. And it can be raised to adjust the desk height. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. It has keys to lock both the desk and bookcase. The desk has two small drawers. Filing sections with"cathedral" style design and original"teardrop" hardware. There are three wide drawers for storage beneath the desk. The top bookcase has leaded, stained glass doors(no chips or cracks) with gold accents and adjustable shelves.
