It is pretty unique with the solid top backrest with scroll top corners. The base mechanism is marked H. B. W. Co. Heywood Brothers& Wakefield Company. That dates it from 1897 to 1921. Swivels and is on casters. This chair is in excellent condition with some minor chips along the left edge of the backrest and a small dark spot on the seat. There are a couple of places where the bolts/ screws need tightening. There are no splits or repairs to the wood. The base was removed at some point. Possibly at the time the chair may have been refinished. I’m not sure. When the base was reattached, new holes were used right in front of the original ones and unoriginal screws were used. There are also about 4 small holes in the seat bottom, 2 on each side. I don’t know what this was for. The seat is about 17 inches from the ground. The backrest is about 40 inches high. This chair was removed from a storage unit filled with the inventory from a New Hampshire antique shop. This is the last piece of oak furniture from the storage. The pieces were all in beautiful condition and excellent quality. Located in Irvine. CA. Pick up is free. Due to size, this chair will have special freight requirements. I can unscrew the base to make it smaller, but it will still be large.

This solid oak Child's Roll Top Desk is a well made"time capsule" from the past in amazing vintage condition. Ready to serve new generations. It was made by the Paris Manufacturing Company of South Paris, Maine, probably around 1910 or later. It has a flexible roll top, flat writing surface, storage compartments with a little drawer, plus two larger drawers on the right. Other than some marker marks and pencil and crayon on the oak writing surface and the same on the inside bottom of the drawers. This has remained solid and beautifully crafted ready to hand down to a new fortunate child. At one time, this had a key for the drawers and the roll top. Antique Kenney Bros& Wolkins Adjustable Student Lift Top Desk with Bent Wood Swivel Chair. This design manufactured by Kenney Bros& Wolkins. 224 Congress St Boston from around 1925 to 1929. Lift top desk with ink well holder. Pen/pencil tray both on and in desk. Desk is adjustable forward and back on its supports by about 1” T he hinge mechanism holds desk lid in any position. Patent information stamped on hinge dates to late September 1925. Chair is bent wood with integral swivel and height adjustment. Swivel is spring loaded and allows the chair to rotate about 45 degrees either side of forward to allow student easy access to his or her desk. Steel tubular frame is extremely rugged and angled to reduce floor space required and provide stability from tipping over. Maple for durability and good looks. Seat spindles provided improved ... moreback support compared to other desk chairs at the time. Desk shows typical signs of use such as pencil and crayon marks but overall the surface finish is quite nice. Wood can be refinished as desired. Steel frame shows some surface rust in some places which can be easily cleaned and repainted authentically using today’s paint matching capabilities. Some history about the Kenney Brothers design: This ability for adjustment was a critical requirement based on studies of childhood ergonomics back in the 1910’s. Henry Wolkins sold office equipment to many schools in the Boston area in the late 1800's including Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. His father. FLH Wolkins came to the USA from Bremerhaven, Germany in 1855. He was a fresco artist and calligrapher whose works can be seen throughout the city and has been exibited in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1902 Henry Wolkins merged his company with a furniture company named Kenney Brothers. This Gunlock swivel. Rocking office chair is in excellent condition. The seating part size is: 16" wide and 15" deep; chair height is adjustable and also the back support. This Gunlock sign was their logo in the 1920's. Don't know what kind of wood is made of(Oak or Walnut) I think the wheels have been replaced, but it rolls perfectly. This is an awesome looking roll top desk! Quality built for a child or petite person. This desk is made of warm maple and has original hardware. One antique dealer told us they thought it was a piece from 1908 in New England. However, we think the interior sections of all the drawers are not original. There is one drawer in the middle and three on the side; they are not dovetailed. Above the 3 drawers is a pull out panel for additional writing space. The cubbies at the back of the desk are in good condition. The chair has 4 legs that form a"teepee" and has a cast iron swivel base that adjusts the height of the chair. The back of the chair has 2 slats. One of which is loose and it appears that one is missing. The rock maple wood has a rich patina and is worn. The drawers and roll top open& close with ease. The desk stands 39" ... moretall. Is 30" long and 18" deep. There is a 25" clearance for your legs. Here is a unique vintage child's roll top desk and matching adjustable swivel chair. In solid excellent condition. The desk measures 35"H x 27"W x 15"D. It has pigeon holes and 2 drawers. The slats are secure and their supporting canvas is intact and without fraying. The matching chair measures 24" high when wound all the way down, and may be unwound safely to about 28" It is most likely an Eastman, but labels on back have been torn too much to see. This is a charming little desk that is additionally beautiful because of the children's markings it carries. It is not a perfect child's relic from the 1930's-1940's. Rather. It was clearly in use by children of its era! There is a Sarah Crewe(Shirley Temple) quote from the 1939 film"The Little Princess, carved into the desktop by a child's ... morehand. The carving isn't immediately noticeable, and it was difficult to photograph the entire passage because much of it begins further back under the pigeon holes. In addition. There are 4 children's names and ages, scrawled in faded red crayon, in big, looping beginner cursive, hidden on one side of the bottom drawer, not at all visible unless the drawer is pulled out. There are two Henderson children's names, and two Powell children's names Much vintage/antique furniture pieces seem to be valued most for their flawlessness. While structural integrity/overall condition is no doubt very important. These items were in fact owned, loved and used by others before us. The history they carry is often just as important as aesthetic beauty, and the marks left by others may often be an enchanting enhancement of the original aesthetic! It was this unique carved quote that drew me to purchase this little desk over the other 2 available child's desks at the time that I found it! BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE SECRETARY'S SWIVEL CHAIR Here is a antique industrial chair which was patented in February of 1921. Which I believe came from the Pennsylvania area. This is over 90 years old made of oak wood and the castings are cast of a heavy iron. There are a couple three cracks in the wood that would be mended and perhaps a nice light sanding and recoating. The hardware will need a bit of cleaning as it has paint over the metal adjusting screws. Yet it really stands out quite nicely and would make beautiful piece of antiquity in an office on display sitting in the corner. It is sturdy but rather small for continued usage in our days and times. All of the hardware works quite well with the swivel twisting and the up and down and back tensions working very well.
