Vintage Vulcan-Hart US ARMY RANGE wood/gas/coal 8 burner plate cook stove oven
This is the Vulcan-Hart version of the US Army commercial wood/coal kitchen stove originally built by the Garland stove company for the US Government contract. But has many upgrades. This stove has a large commercial size natural gas burner in the firebox, which likely could be rejetted for propane allowing you to use multiple fuel sources(Wood, coal, gas) It also has a built in cast iron water heater heat exchanger in there. It has a brite"US" nameplate which appears to be solid brass and silver accenting on the casting names and rivet heads. The top is 52W X 36D X 33H. It's real cast iron- it weighs in the neighborhood of 400 lbs. The Vulcan-Hart company. With history back to 1865, still makes high quality $$$ commercial stoves today and the quality and lineage of this unit shows. Built in 1951 according to the nameplate on ... morethe side. It came with a 1947 house I purchased last year. According to the 87 year old previous owner, the unit was bought new and placed in the corner of the living room by his aunt during a 1952 renovation and hasn't moved since. He only used it for extra heating in that large room and never recalled actually burning wood in the unit, and I found only evidence of natural gas use. It comes with the stock"tools" poker, scraper etc. The unused heavy-ass firebox grating for burning solids is in the last photo. It was sitting in the bottom of the ash drawer. It is a bit dusty in the photos and it does have a light patina of rust color on the inside but I know most of that is due to the natural gas combustion residue. And there is no ash inside and very little soot in the flue. I decided to leave it all original and not try to restore it as that might change its value and it does in fact need very little cleaning and perhaps some paint inside to make it look like new again. I found no cracks, scratches, or damage of any kind when I inspected it, and I do feel confident in its excellent condition, but I am selling it as-is, no warranties. It will come with the carbura

This unique vintage stove finial measures 8 ¾ inches high. 10 inches in diameter at the center, 3 ¾ inches at diameter base, round top measures 2 ¾ inches, and 6 inches between top of two handles. Unmarked. Fine condition. No cracks or chips. Minor wear on nickel plating. Age unknown. Note the ornate screws which holds the finial together. The handles attach separately through four slots. Finial can be opened to find a bolt inside which I think would attach finial to a swing top, etc. Heavy- weighs about 2 ½ pounds. The handle looks to have the following numbers/letters on it, MAJESTIC RANGES" Some of the letters are on real clear on the handle in the pictures because I think the paint is a little thicker in places and makes the letters a little hard to see. The length of the insides of the square ends look to be about 5/8 inch or a little less each of the four ways on the square and the circles on the square end each look to be about about 1/2 inch in diameter. Up for auction is an antique coal/wood stove shaker. It is about 7" long from the 90 degree bend and the handle is 4" long. It has a chrome color but it is rough, so I can't tell if it has been painted or has been used badly. It is really solid though and ready for use. This stove has been lovingly kept. The enamel is in great shape. The firebox is in perfect condition- no missing or broken tiles and the grate is wonderful. The cast iron top is rough and pitted(not lovely, but very functional and has all the pieces) It is a great appliance, conversation piece, heat source and it cooks and bakes like a champ! It has a large hot water reservoir that is in great shape, no leaks or functional defects. I have owned this particular stove for about seven years and have used it every fall/winter. I am a connoisseur of vintage cook stoves, and this one is remarkable!
