This unique Antique Clark Jewel Cast Iron Gas Stove(G146) was made by George M. Clark& Co. A Division of American Stove Co. Chicago. My grandmother used it everyday up until 1994. She kept it in good condition, painting it regularly with"Black Silk" Stove Polish. Along with the four regular burners, it has a UNIQUE COFFEE WARMER(see picture#5) The stove has a big white pull-out crumb catcher. The metal sheet that the crumb catcher sits on has some rust holes. The oven has two shelves and eight positions. The stove stop itself measures 26" across. With the two side panels up it measures 35" across. It is 25" deep and 32" high. The oven door is 22" wide. What you see is surface rust from sitting in a warehouse. I did not do any cleaning on the stove. This was one of the best stoves during the 20's. This stove DOES WORK. The man I obtained it from told me he have it converted to propane so he could place it outside and cook on it. Due to illness he never used the stove. There is a smaller metal piece with a"53" on it that is taped to the main piece on the back, however, when I removed this piece of tape, that extra tab does NOT appear to have broken off. This is an antique gas wood coal burning parlor stove(can be converted to propane) called"Ariosto" No.65.And made by the Jewett Co. This stove is a base burner and also can be used to burn wood. It is in beautiful working condition and has mica windows on the front and sides for viewing the fire a total of 24 nice large windows. It has seven decorative floral tiles, 3 on the front and 2 on each side. This stove also has purple jewels mounted in the front so that when the fire is lit they shine brightly. This vintage Clark and Jewel stove will look great as is after a little cleaning. Or restore it or just use it in your cabin or hunting shack. It works, the oven also works but the thermostat is not accurate. There are some spots of rust, not bad as the one area is on the side panel, not the porcelain area. Cast Iron Antique Base DETROIT STOVE WORKS GAS STOVE UNIT No. 32 DETROIT JEWEL Antique base of a DETROIT STOVE WORKS gas stove unit. A No. 32 DETROIT JEWEL as it is cast into the cast iron. Everything is cast iron except the valve units which are brass. The handles are wood. Which I've never seen before on such a unit. The highly raised letter graphics are excellent as pictured. The larger letters have to be about 3/16" raised from the main surface. Both of the top corners have what appears to be possibly a crown and then inside that crown is the words, JEWEL STOVES and RANGES" The arched decorative feet are all fine. I find no breaks, cracks or repairs anywhere. It is in excellent condition for it's years. Because of the wood handles I would guess this to possibly be from the mid to later 1800's. A very nice, unique, ... morecollectible piece. About 23" x 12-1/2" wide at the main unit. About 16" wide to the main gas line. I'll remove the gas line with valves for shipping purposes. Detroit Stove Works, Finest Stove Plant in The World. 56" high x 44" wide x 23" deep. Iron finished in baked ebonite. Beautiful steel accents. We used it for many years. And it works great! We added a simple shut off valve to the gas pipe to the wall to ensure safety. The doors seal tightly. It has an upper oven, with grooves for 4 racks, and 2 original racks. A multi-level 4 rack broiler below; rack and broiler pan. Four flower shaped burners, and floral grill design. These are very efficient, and produce a lot of heat. The burner knobs come from the steel gas pipes that run as a rail horizontally along the front, vertically to the right of, and across between the oven and broiler. The knobs are ... moreintact.
