VTG CAST IRON 8-1/2" COOK STOVE EYE / LID LIFTER ~ ANTIQUE WOOD COAL WRENCH TOOL
Offered is a cast iron stove eye lifter and shaker wrench tool. These were used to lift the eyes. Or lids on old cook and heating stoves. This piece is unmarked beyond"446, so I am unable to connect it with a particular maker or era. It is obviously an older piece. It's a particularly robustly made piece with a smallish lifting lug. The lifter is about 8-1/2 inches long and weighs about 11 ounces. I can't find the slightest damage beyond light use marks and some surface roughness. Likely from the original casting. It has a smaller half-moon shaped lifting lug, measuring about 1/2 by 1/8 inch. These can sometimes be ground a bit to fit a particular eye. It has one of those odd shaker wrench tools opposite the lifting lug, and there is a bit of casting sprue remaining in it. This part of the tool may also be for adjusting interior ... morevents, particularly in cookstove ovens. I've posted lots of pictures so you can look it over. The embossing on the handle is too weak for me to read so I am unable to connect it with a particular maker or era. It's obviously an older piece. This is a cast iron handle from an old wood or coal stove. I don't know if it is made to shake clinkers off a grate(it appears to be made to both push and pull) Or if it is a type of lid lifter that I'm unfamiliar with. Or if it has another use of which I am ignorant. It is 6 5/8 inches long, and the hook extends ~1 1/8 inches past the angled stop. On the underneath of the handle is"CS" and"64.

Vtg Stover 66 Cast Iron 8-3/4" Lid Lifter Coal/Wood Stove Spiral Handle & Hook
Up for bid is one(1) vintage Stover 66 cast iron stove lid lifter in excellent. Gently-used condition. It measures approximately 8-3/4" long. This interesting kitchen collectible was used for lifting the lids from a coal/wood stove. It has a spiral wire handle that forms a hook at the end for hanging. See pictures. NOTE: The stove lid lifter is usually an iron device. Often nickel- plated. With a flattened hook at one end for lifting the iron stove lids/plates from the stove or range top. Provisions were made for cooling the handle. Often spirally-twisted heavy wire, to dissipate the heat from the hand. As I purchased this item at an estate sale. Antique Wood/Coal Stove Eye Lifter Tool Cast Iron black tool with ornate design. Design has the letter'B' in the handle. Underside is embossed with Glen Oak. Believed to be the tool for the#2 Parlor Stove pat. 1898 by Weir Stove Co. The tool does have signs of age such as rust and discoloration. But seems to surface only is not affecting the overall metal or use of the tool. Used with my antique stove for years. I upgraded to different style so the tool does not fit the lid anymore.
