Vintage Vulcan-Hart US ARMY RANGE wood/gas/coal 8 burner plate cook stove oven
This is the Vulcan-Hart version of the US Army commercial wood/coal kitchen stove originally built by the Garland stove company for the US Government contract. But has many upgrades. This stove has a large commercial size natural gas burner in the firebox, which likely could be rejetted for propane allowing you to use multiple fuel sources(Wood, coal, gas) It also has a built in cast iron water heater heat exchanger in there. It has a brite"US" nameplate which appears to be solid brass and silver accenting on the casting names and rivet heads. The top is 52W X 36D X 33H. It's real cast iron- it weighs in the neighborhood of 400 lbs. The Vulcan-Hart company. With history back to 1865, still makes high quality $$$ commercial stoves today and the quality and lineage of this unit shows. Built in 1951 according to the nameplate on ... morethe side. It came with a 1947 house I purchased last year. According to the 87 year old previous owner, the unit was bought new and placed in the corner of the living room by his aunt during a 1952 renovation and hasn't moved since. He only used it for extra heating in that large room and never recalled actually burning wood in the unit, and I found only evidence of natural gas use. It comes with the stock"tools" poker, scraper etc. The unused heavy-ass firebox grating for burning solids is in the last photo. It was sitting in the bottom of the ash drawer. It is a bit dusty in the photos and it does have a light patina of rust color on the inside but I know most of that is due to the natural gas combustion residue. And there is no ash inside and very little soot in the flue. I decided to leave it all original and not try to restore it as that might change its value and it does in fact need very little cleaning and perhaps some paint inside to make it look like new again. I found no cracks, scratches, or damage of any kind when I inspected it, and I do feel confident in its excellent condition, but I am selling it as-is, no warranties. It will come with the carbura

I replated all of the nickel and the original blue and white finish is in beautiful condition, with a few blemishes. I only cooked on the wood side once, but I've used the gas side for the last few years and it works great. The thermostat in gas oven is actually quite accurate. The wood and coal part consists of four burners and the lower oven. Then there are the frour natural gas cooking burners and the one simmer burner on the right side. Up above on the left is the gas oven which is controlled by a very accurate thermostat. On ther right is the gas broiler. It is the most furocious broiler I've ever seen. Take a look at the picture. With plated cast iron legs and frame. We know this because both the antique and the later reproduction were at the same estate auction. We guarantee this is the antique and it's in very clean. Highly displayable condition. This stove represented an actual full-sized stove then being made by Qualifed Range Co. of Ft. Re cov ery. Ohio. Samples that were made for Karr Range are so similar( the only ... moredifference we note is the different name on the fire box cover. Usually Karr Range Co. Belleville, I ll. th at it seems very likely there was a connect ion b etween the two companies. Especially since some have turned up marked"Qualified Rge. Co. Belleville, IL" and others"Karr Qualified Range" Please note that the blue surfaces are a medium-glossy finish that made it difficult to photo without reflections. We were able to eliminate most of the reflections by photoing from different angles. Also. When the Wrought iron range company first started they made their pans out of the same cast iron as their stoves. They iron skillets warped so badly they are hardly ever found. This is a early water bucket made to hang on the side of the range when not in use. I guess since water was used in this bucket it kept it at the same temperature.It did not warp like the skillets do. I have seen a couple of these buckets on line but never with the early patent date on it. They are from a later manufacturing after the cast iron was changed. You are bidding on an early 1900's enameled cast iron Laurelton Foundry Mother's Range wood/coal cook stove. I bought it in central Pennsylvania in 1983 from a family who lovingly used it for years. My intention was to install it in our newly purchased home in the southern tier of upstate New York. Unfortunately it has been in the garage for the past thirty plus years unused. I have never fired it up but the grates appear to be in excellent condition and the copper water tank intact. There are extra cooking inserts that go with it. The color I would call salmon. The cook stove can be disassemble into three sections…the warming shelf. The stove proper and the base/legs…but it still takes two stout individuals to move it. Therefore local pickup only.

Listing this for my Father in law. He bought this many years ago with the intention of restoring it but never did. This model had the ability to also function as a water heater but it appears it had been used dry and the casting for that is busted. From the information I found in my research on this stove I believe it to be between a 1937- 1939 model. Everything appears to be there and in useable shape as is other than that. As I have looked around it appears this model with the warming compartments above is a rare find. As most that have been listed(at least on the internet) don't have them. He told me that He had the other handles for the other 2 doors but could not find them at the time I took the photos. to be safe though assume they are missing. This old catalog has 216 numbered pages in it. Lots of cookstoves. Heating stoves and then furnaces in the back of it. It comes with a letter that it was sent with in 1922 explaining a few discounts if you order a lot of stuff. It's really in very good shape. The binding is split a little bit but is nothing that will keep you from using it. If you are careful with it, you could get some tacky glue and repair it quite easily. This is a 1920 Rauschenberg stove made in Belleville. Illinois. The stove uses wood, charcoal& propane. Have not hooked it up to see if propane works, but has all lines for it. Great for any survivalist or preppers out there. Used to heat your house with proper ventilation and could be cooked on. If decided to put back in to original condition could be very neat as well. The stove is very heavy so would like local pick up or might be able to tow with trailer for additional cost.
