Antique Cast Iron Summer Girl No.1 Taylor Edy Co Stove Railroad Cle. Pat. 1898
Summer Girl No.1. Rare old camp stove. Railroad stove.Old cast iron piece. Reads: Pat. Dec. 28, 1898. From the looks of it I would say it dates from about that time. Has four little legs, top part opens/closes easily, will stay in position. The wick turner goes around with no trouble, but it does not currently have a wick. It is also missing the upper part(flume thing) that I have seen on these. It does not have a cap either. Very solid, though there is alot of rust. I would guess it would need some TLC to work correctly, though I really don't know. The inside appears to be hollow; I did run some water through it so it will be fairly clean when you recieve it. di,RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%601d72f%2Bishhov%3C%3Edi-142132ed916-0x101-

ANTIQUE 1893 SUMMER GIRL No. 1 Working Kerosene Camp Stove / Sad Iron Heater
DESCRIPTION: This auction is for an Antique Summer Girl Cast Iron Kerosene/Oil Burning Sad Iron Heater. It has also been described elsewhere as a railroad camp cook stove. In reality. These heaters were used to keep the sad irons hot enough to press the family's clothing. The wide wick generated heat to the entire bottom of the iron, thus heating it quickly. The total unit is 9" tall; the base reservoir is by 6" wide by 4" deep. The oil reservoir is entirely cast iron which was painted black. There is a brass knob on the side of the base for adjusting the height of the wick. It works smoothly and easily. The wick is still there. The chimney is metal with a cast iron burner on top. It is attached to the reservoir base by hinges on the front side; and it can be removed completely. The reservoir base is marked in raised letters ... morein the casting: No 1 SUMMER GIRL on the top of the hinged side of the reservoir; on the other side's top: PATD. DEC. 26, 1893. THE TAYLOR& BOGGIS FDY. CO. CLEVELAND. This sad iron heater is in very good condition for its age. Pour in some kerosene, put a cork in the tank and it would still work like it did over a hundred years ago.
