Vintage Vulcan-Hart US ARMY RANGE wood/gas/coal 8 burner plate cook stove oven
This is the Vulcan-Hart version of the US Army commercial wood/coal kitchen stove originally built by the Garland stove company for the US Government contract. But has many upgrades. This stove has a large commercial size natural gas burner in the firebox, which likely could be rejetted for propane allowing you to use multiple fuel sources(Wood, coal, gas) It also has a built in cast iron water heater heat exchanger in there. With history back to 1865, still makes high quality $$$ commercial stoves today and the quality and lineage of this unit shows. Built in 1951 according to the nameplate on ... morethe side. It came with a 1947 house I purchased last year. According to the 87 year old previous owner, the unit was bought new and placed in the corner of the living room by his aunt during a 1952 renovation and hasn't moved since. He only used it for extra heating in that large room and never recalled actually burning wood in the unit, and I found only evidence of natural gas use. It comes with the stock"tools" poker, scraper etc. The unused heavy-ass firebox grating for burning solids is in the last photo. It was sitting in the bottom of the ash drawer. It is a bit dusty in the photos and it does have a light patina of rust color on the inside but I know most of that is due to the natural gas combustion residue. And there is no ash inside and very little soot in the flue. I decided to leave it all original and not try to restore it as that might change its value and it does in fact need very little cleaning and perhaps some paint inside to make it look like new again. This catalog is an oblong format of 12 pages plus the pink printed covers measuring about 6.75" x 5.75" The catalog is not dated but prints some testimonial letters dating between 1896 and 1900 and appears to be circa 1900 or so. This catalog is nicely illustrated with several engravings and features the McDowell Oven which was a commercial oven for hotels and restaurants that came in four sizes ranging from 46 to 84 inches in length. Up for grabs is a very old Roper Stove circa 1920's. 4 burner w/oven gas stove. It has been in storage the past 10 years. Worked prior to that time, so guess with a little effort, it would again. No missing parts. Has a small spot of porcelain loss on the right side at the top left corner where stove rubbed against wall. And a burn underneath the stove lid with some porcelain loss. Has drip trays, grills, oven rack and Astogril broiler pan. Photos of inside and back coming soon. Could very easily be installed and used with just minor servicing. THE BACK LIGHT MEASURES APPROX. 26" LONG AND THE CHROME HOOD MEASURES APPROX. 8" ACROSS. THE BACK LIGHT IS MADE OF IRON. PORCELAIN AND CHROME. A MAGNET STICKS TO ANY OF THE WHITE AREAS. THE CHROME COVER DOES HAVE SOME SCRATCHES AROUND THE PIVOT POINT AND ON THE FRONT. THE CHAIN TURNS THE LIGHT OFF AND ON AS IT SHOULD. THERE ARE NO DENTS TO THE BACK LIGHT. VINTAGE PAT1922 Roper Enamel gas stove oven P9736- oven, 4 burner top,warmer+!
This item was purchased at an Estate auction.This is a VERY nice Roper gas stove and oven. It has the number P9736 on the dial. And was patented in Canada in 1922, refrigerator patents earlier than that. Item is large, but still small enough to have in the everyday kitchen. Item is 42 1/2" by 24" and is 54" tall(including the 19" footed legs) Breaking down the dimensions, the top stove is 16"X"20 and 14" tall(top left oven unit) the bottom broiler unit is 16"X20" and about 10 1/2" tall(bottom left opening) Burner top is 15"X20" rectangular(section where burner flame meets cooking surface) and the warmer unit under burners is about 21"X21" and about 9" to 10" depending on how close you want to put to the burners(this is where you would let the bread rise in earlier ... moredays) The four burner units where the flame comes out, three are 4" wide, and one is 5 1/2" wide. There is a small shelf on the right side of the stove, that is included and is about 3 1/4" wide by 1 1/4" and is 21 1/2' deep.To my knowledge all the parts are included, but if you do not see in the photos, please let me know and I will get back with the answer as soon as possible. The item has a black colored edging artistic design on most pieces, can see in photos. This item does have rust, and do not know if the gaskets are in working condition. Since the is a gas item, please make sure to have checked out by an expert before using in case of unknown valve leaks. The would be an excellent restoration item! This item is being sold AS IS. Can connect to gas and electricity to show all works. Thermostat is exact-I can show temp with calibrated oven testing thermometer. Clock works and keeps perfect time. Timer buzzer works. The timer to turn on and off by clock works. Oven light works and seems as if it could be original. So yes. All the electrics work. Recently serviced and lubricated. 98% clean inside and out. Good luck finding another old oven that works and is accurate(but it worked when we put it in the garage 10 years ago" is something you'll hear a lot.
