For Sale is a stove grate shaker handle. Used for coal or wood stove. The handle looks to have the following numbers/letters on it, MAJESTIC RANGES" Some of the letters are on real clear on the handle in the pictures because I think the paint is a little thicker in places and makes the letters a little hard to see. The length of the insides of the square ends look to be about 5/8 inch or a little less each of the four ways on the square and the circles on the square end each look to be about about 1/2 inch in diameter. KEELEY CAST IRON ASH SHAKER HANDLE This old cast iron KEELEY ash shaker stove handle would have been fastened onto a coal stove and used to"shake" the grate causing the ashes and cinders to fall down from the firebox into the ash pan. The grate would be shaken in short vigorous strokes that moved the grates back-and-forth allowing the ashes to fall through. To keep a good fire burning. It was important to shake enough of the ashes to allow the proper amount of air flow up through the coal. This old handle has a 1.25 inch hexagonal opening and a nicely shaped pierced handle. Overall space width of the handle is 6.5 inches and it has a 9 inch arm extension. Some slight surface rust inside the hex opening. But still a good solid and functional tool.
