Fine antique c 1880 Japanese style Aesthetic Movement late Victorian easel back picture frame. Beautiful raised florals, leaves, roses and a beetle type insect against an old masonry stone wall. About 10 inches high by about 7.75 inches across, no glass, sits straight and true. The frame opening is about 5.5 inches by about 3.75 inches. Even, untouched, pleasing patina, a few shinier high spots, lovely. I believe this frame is silver or nickel plated iron, quite heavy, everything intact with all hardware being original and intact. I especially like the little curved back plate which has a springy strip of metal holding it securely in place and easily pivots on a screw to release the back, never saw one like this, quite clever and convenient.
