Up for auction is a nice Antique 1800's Lehman's Heater. Carriage Foot Warmer No. 6. It is in good condition, all brass is in good condition, no dents or missing parts. The carpet is fairly worn. Antique 1800's Lehman's Heater. 6. Manufactured by LEHMAN BROS. New York in late 1800's, most likely in 1880 or around. Used as Carriage Foot Warmer to warm passenger's feet in winter time. Burning coals were put in the drawer inside the heater. I am including some coal that is in the tray at no extra cost. Measures 12" x 8" x 3 3/4' without the handles.

Antique Carbon Brick Foot Warmer Lehmans Heater for Bed, Buggy or Carriage 1877
You are bidding on this antique Carbon Brick Foot Warmer. CARBON BRICK FOOT WARMERS. Probably the foot warmer that most people think about for carriages and sleighs was popular during the early 1900s. It was a metal container with carpet. Which had a drawer on the end for inserting a special brick. The first mention of this type that we found was in January. 1877(Hub) and in February. 1877(Carriage Monthly) Both referring to a new foot warmer for carriages invented by Mr. Cassinelli. Of Italy. “This improved heater is made of heavy galvanized sheet-iron. Either plain or ornamented, and is furnished with hot and cold air-chambers. And produces heat varying from 130’ to 140’ Fahr. The heat-generator consists of a patented compound. Supplied in brick form. Which is readily ignited and burns from six to ten hours. The brick ... moreis inserted in a receptacle that is suspended midway between the hot and cold airchambers, where it is firmly secured by a spring. The compound. While burning. Gives off but little volatile matter, and consequently but little odor, which. It is claimed, is neither offensive nor unhealthy. Practical test shows this to be a fact. So far as regards the liability of setting fire to clothing or the carriage. There is not the least danger, as the fire is securely held in place, and the heater itself will not ignite even a friction-match when laid upon its exterior. As it will never reach a degree of heat greater than the hand can bear. “The heater is supplied in various sizes. The smaller sizes being nearly diminutive enough to use as pocket-heaters. I have up for sale a wonderful vintage original circa later 1800s to early 1900s CLARK HEATER fancy cast iron embossed end sections COAL burning Foot Warmer Footrest. Primarily used as a foot warmer for Horse Drawn Buggies. Sleighs, Cutters, Carriages, or early automobiles- it can also be used to heat any small area- and was also used in homes- even as a bed warmer. The particular example is a very early model as indicated by the fancy cast iron side sections. I would surmise that it would date to the later 1800s. It weighs approx 10 lbs 8 ounces. And measures approx 15" long by 7" wide, approx 5" tall. It is in very very good condition- great shape if you consider its age and how it was used. There are indications of normal light use wear but nothing significant. Although extremely subtle and off No structural impact. I notice ... morea fine 1/2" hairline, at the 12 O'Clock position, located at the top- one the side that has the fancy writing- where it has the words THE CLARK HEATER. You have to look with much scrutiny before you will even notice this. One of the wire handles is missing, and there is some normal light wear as one would expect. This is in very good shape for the age and it comes with the blanket wrap that you see in the picture. I don't any of the history of this heater. But, mostly used to warm feet of autos or carriages without heat. The drawer slides out and you would put the hot coals inside. There was a covering of some-kind which has gone with the ages. I have an antique Petty's Carriage foot warmer with coal box and a few pieces of coal. It is in decent shape. The fabric on the bottom is a little worn and it is missing a screw. Sold as is. As shown. 14 in long x 8 in wide x 8 1/2 in tall from bottom to top of handle.

Antique 1800's Lehman Heater Foot Warmer Carriage Coal Box Horse & Buggy No. 5
Lehman Bros. Heater Up for auction is a wonderful old 1800's NO. 5carriage heater from Lehman Brothers of New York. These were also called"coal boxes" but basically served as foot warmers in horse-drawn vehicles and even automobiles without heat. You would load the slide out drawer with hot coals and rest your feet on the piece. Usually they had a tapestry or carpet of some sorts over them but this one no longer does. It measures almost 14 inches long by 8 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. These routinely start at a couple of hundred dollars so this one is a steal! Shipping is FREE via economy shipping!
