This stove was purchased by a lady new on the outskirts of Shelbyville, Ky. and remained in her home until it was ... moresold in an Estate after she had passed away. The gentleman that I purchased this from is the one who had purchased it at the Estate auction around 1996. With the intent on installing it in his older Shelbyville home's kitchen which was undergoing a restoration. Anyway, he decided to go a different direction on the appliances, and that is when I came to own this remarkable stove. It was late 1996 when I purchased it. And the gentleman to me a story that I must pass on to you. The lady who originally bought this stove had used it daily since new, but being in her late 80's and a widow was pressured by her family to get a"new fangled" stove with autopilot features as they were concerned for her safety with a standing pilot light, and they were even going to pay for it. She refused over and over again until finally one day she said she would accept a"new" stove as long as they had"her" trusty companion"stove" installed down in the basement so that she could cook her Holiday dinner on her own stove. And so it would be! But when the kids were cleaning up the her old house for the estate sale. They noticed how clean the"new" stove was, and came to the conclusion that she had in fact not been using it at all, but going up and down the basement stairs everyday until her death. HMMMMMph? Anyway. When I purchased this in 1996, I took to the local appliance store for a"once over" cleaning, inspection, tune-up as well as having the oven controller removed and sent out to the Tulsa Stove Hospital to have it re-calibrated. I also had the top burners and grate re-porcelained by a company in Tennessee. I was having a"new" Victorian Country built, and this was installed upon moving in. We still clean and polish as we do with all of our knobs. We realize this may not work for some folks, however there are folks that prefer a more affordable knob for their cooking needs. The heat and fractures are typically on the top and thumb turn areas of the dials. None of these fracture extend to the underside of the knob. OKeefe& Merritt Oven control knob Wilcolator Valve/ knob control Winning Buyer will receive an oven control knob from a Vintage 4- burner O'Keefe& Merritt stove. This stove had both a Wilcolator oven and a center-mount clock( stove burner knob& clock being sold at separate auctions ~ see blue STOVE button below for more) The knob is in Very Good condition. But the mounting hardware internal is bent and questionable, so please bid accordingly. The knob operation is"push in and turn clockwise" Visible control knob surface has been carefully cleaned. Inside is as shown. Please note: I am supplying it WITH the metal outside bezel/ ring or collar. But I cannot assure that the collar will work. The tabs on back side were bent during removal, so essentially all I am providing and guaranteeing is the knob itself. I did not ... morewant to try to bend back for fear of damage. Vintage Stove GAS BURNER BLACK CONTROL KNOB / DIAL, OVEN KNOB TIMER CLOCK KNOBS
Vintage original 1920's 1930's gas stove knobs- these are used black and chrome stove knobs. There are four burner control knobs, one oven control( knob and three timer/clock knobs. All appear to be black Bakelite. The four burner control knobs have centered stems that are for"D" gas stems. They have holes on one side that are not threaded for set screw. Black painted stripe on the chrome metal face. Face length is approximately 2 inches. Hole diameter appears to be approximately 5/16" The large round oven knob is approx 2.25" diameter, had D shaft and unthreaded side hole for set screw. Small 3 round knobs are approximately 3/4" diameter each is for different shaft. These are in very good original condition with some minor chipping to edges of the set screw holes. This is an old original knob from an O'Keefe& Merritt gas stove that was from an estate sale. And is being sold as is. The 6 photos are the main description, plus the following info: ~ white plastic knob with chrome trim. ~ the words'on' off' With directional arrows, are stamped on the outer ring. ~ some small tarnish spots on the chrome outer ring. ~ underside shows some traces of old cooking residue. ~ didn't attempt to loosen the 2 underside screws. Which look tarnished. ~ appears to be a hairline split in the center of both sides of the raised knob under the center chrome strip(last photo) ~ no visible damage around the half-moon slip fitting. ~ might be a good knob for an unrestored stove. we'll be without computer access from Friday morning through Sunday evening.
