Antique Cribben & Sexton Gas/Wood/Coal Universal Cook Stove
Antique Cribben and Sexton Stove. I am second owner of this stove tho have stored it for 30 years awaiting purchase of house with a kitchen large enough to accomodate it. I have never used the stove tho cooktop was in use by original owner. Specific date of stove 1915-1918 assuming by patent stamps on various pieces. Issues are predominately with gas supply. The linkage that raises and lowers the oven burner to control oven temperature has snapped tho both cast iron pieces fit and could be welded. The linkage that extends to the front of the stove which allows gas to the oven and broiler is snapped and the front piece is missing(photo) The gas valve to the broiler is missing as is the standard black pipe supply. The firebox liners have been overheated(photo) and do not seem to fit in properly.Homestead stoves for replacements) Also missing ... moreis the firebox shaker. The cast iron vent is intact. Porcelain is good with small chip on one cooktop handle. Only two of the original cooktop grilles available. Oven grates. Broiler trays good, thermometer, and ash pan all good. Antique Graceful Universal No. 350 Parlor Stove - Nickel Plated & Nice
Graceful Universal No. 350 Stove. Built by Universal Stoves and Ranges in Chicago, IL. As can be seen. This stove has a significant amount of nickel, all in very good shape with just a little tarnishing. A good polish would bring life back to this stove in no time. There is a patent date shown on the back with the date of July 16, 1912. This unique stove has been in our family for almost 50 years. Our father had done some refurbishing on the stove. But never finished. One thing he did accomplish was to have a mould crafted for the creation of a front door that had been missing when he acquired the stove. This mould will come with the unit. Some of the Isinglass(mica) is still in need of replacement. The original intentions were to bring the stove back to full operation, but that never happened. Meanwhile, it has been a beautiful piece on ... moredisplay in his home for the past 30 years. This stove should go to someone who would truly appreciate its grandeur and detail. Other than the missing isinglass, there are no other missing pieces that we are aware of. Due to the large size and weight of this item. Sale is for pick-up only and will be sold as is. Hi. After I bought this Cribben& Sexton"Elegant Universal No.149" in 2004 I did some research. I can't find that research now. As the gentleman I talked with isn't on Google anymore. He had a Antique stove refurbishing business, and had a picture of this exact model stove on his website. I asked him how much the stove was worth. He said, Not sure, I've never seen one" I told him it was the same stove he had on his homepage. He laughed. Told me he got the picture from another website. I was intrigued. He went on to tell me the reason he used the picture of this particular model was because he thought it was the prettiest stove he'd ever seen. Thought it would look great on his homepage. While we were on the phone, he pulled some Cribben& Sexton Co. books off his shelf, and said, No wonder I've never ... moreseen one of these. They only made 1000 of this model" Now. The woman I bought this stove from owned a Southwest store in the San Diego area in the 40's to the 70's. She rubbed elbows with some pretty knowledgeable people. As a matter of fact. I bought 3 collections of arrowheads from her as well. My wife and I drove from Oregon to San Diego and met her at her house. We disassembled the stove and stowed it in the back of my truck. She and her husband had had the stove expertly refurbished in 1970. She indicated that it was re-nickeled at the same time. It hasn't been used as a stove since at least 1940. Other than how nice this woman was to me and my wife, the one thing I'll always remember about that day was her standing on the front porch crying as we bid her farewell. I own a Lodge in Oregon, and have a cool(temperature) spot in my lobby. I thought I'd outfit the stove with a propane burner, but decided against it. I felt like cutting into it would be like drawing a cartoon of Bart Simpson next to The Mona Lisa. Anyway. Antique 1920's Oxford Universal Gas Stove- Green Marble Enamel finish works
Pick up Only Pick Up Only! Elgin. Illinois 60123 This is a beautiful Antique Gas stove made by Oxford Universal. manufactured by Cribben& Sexton Cop. Chicago. Illinois. Model# 2042 TMX. these stoves were made in the 1920's and 30's. It measures 36" tall with a 2 3/4" back splash. 40" wide and 22" deep. It is a porcelain enameled steel stove with a cream color and a jade green marble type finish. It includes the oven racks and the drip pans. The woman we got it from said it is in working condition and it seems to be intact. The bracket that holds open the burner cover broke while we were moving it, but it could be repaired or replaced. I cleaned it a bit, It will need a deeper cleaning if you intend to use it. It has some dirt and some rust but it is in excellent condition considering it's age. Up for auction is this beautiful old wood kitchen cookstove. It is in excellent condition. Only missing the flange where the pipe connects(note hole in 1st picture back of stove) The photos say it all. All the lids, the lifter, fire grates, door hinges are good.
